Indo Ghana Film and Cultural Forum of ICMEI Celebrates Historic Visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ghana

New Delhi/Noida, July 2025: The Indo Ghana Film and Cultural Forum, an esteemed initiative of the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Louis Kwame Obeng, Deputy Head of Mission, High Commission of Ghana in India and the people of Ghana on the momentous visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi to the Republic of Ghana.

This historic visit, marking the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana in over three decades, is a significant milestone in the annals of Indo-Ghanaian relations. Prime Minister Modi was warmly received by President Dr. John Dramani Mahama at Jubilee House in Accra, where the two leaders engaged in comprehensive discussions—both restricted and delegation-level—to elevate the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership.

The Indo Ghana Film and Cultural Forum, established seven years ago under the visionary leadership of Dr. Sandeep Marwah—President of Marwah Studios and Chair of the Forum—has been instrumental in fostering cultural diplomacy and enhancing people-to-people ties between India and Ghana. The Forum was created with the active support of the Ghana High Commission in India and has remained a pioneering platform for artistic, cinematic, and educational collaboration.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah expressed his deep appreciation for this diplomatic breakthrough, stating,
“Prime Minister Modi’s visit is a defining moment in India-Ghana relations. It brings renewed energy to our commitment of using art and culture as the pillars of friendship between the two nations. Noida, India – The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), under the distinguished leadership of Dr. Sandeep Marwah, extends its warmest congratulations to Louis Kwame Obeng, Deputy Head of Mission, Ghana High Commission, and the people of Ghana on the joyous occasion of their Independence Day, celebrated on 6th March.

AAFT Showcases Culinary Delights from Ghana at the 17th Global Film Festival Noida

Noida, India – The 17th Global Film Festival Noida (GFFN) featured a vibrant Food Festival celebrating the rich culinary heritage of Ghana. Organized by the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) in association with the AAFT School of Hospitality and Tourism and the International Film and Television Club (IFTC), the event took place at Marwah Studios, Film City, Noida.

Cuisines from Ghana were prominently displayed, offering attendees a unique opportunity to experience the country’s diverse flavors. The Food Festival, a highlight of the Global Film Festival, aimed to strengthen cultural ties and foster international collaboration through culinary arts.

The festival was inaugurated by Conrad Nanakajo Asidu, First Secretary at the High Commission of Ghana. During his address, Asidu remarked, “Ghana’s cuisine is a reflection of its rich cultural heritage, and events like these provide a platform to share our traditions with the world. I am delighted to see such an enthusiastic response to our culinary offerings.”

Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios and the driving force behind the Global Film Festival, emphasized the importance of the Food Festival in fostering cultural exchange. He stated, “Food festivals are an integral part of the Global Film Festival. They bring together the essence of different cultures, creating a platform for dialogue and appreciation. The Indo-Ghana Film and Cultural Forum has been instrumental in strengthening the bond between our two nations.”

The Ghanaian Food Festival not only delighted the taste buds of attendees but also highlighted the strong cultural ties between India and Ghana. This event marked yet another step in the festival’s mission to celebrate global unity through art, culture, and cuisine.

ICMEI Congratulated High Commission of Ghana

New Delhi: “I on behalf of ICMEI, media & entertainment Industry and complete art & culture fraternity of India extend my heartiest congratulation to Sebastian Beliwine Charge d’ Affairs High Commission of Ghana in India and the people of Republic of Ghana on the Independence Day, which falls on 6th March,” said Sandeep Marwah President of International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry.

“We have developed wonderful relations with Ghana under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Michael Aaron N. N. Oquaye Esq (Jnr) the former Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, with concurrent responsibility for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Maldives. Ghana’s participation could be seen in every major event organised by the Chamber,” added Sandeep Marwah also Chair for Indo Ghana Film And Cultural Forum.

On the 6 March 1957 Kwame Nkrumah declared to the people of Ghana about their freedom, he added that, “the African People are capable of managing their own affairs and Ghana our beloved country is free forever. Ghana was the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to achieve its independence from European colonial rule.
