The event was graced by Hon’ble Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Sitting Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest, who formally declared the competition open in the presence of students, faculty members, and legal luminaries from across the nation and abroad.
In his inaugural address, Hon’ble Justice Ujjal Bhuyan elaborated on the significance of moot court exercises in the holistic development of law students. He explained that moot courts are not only a platform for rehearsing advocacy but also an opportunity to imbibe discipline, research methodology, logical reasoning, and professional courtroom conduct. He expressed that such competitions serve as the foundation for preparing competent, ethical, and confident advocates of tomorrow. “A moot court is a rehearsal ground where you learn to balance your knowledge of law with the art of persuasion. It is here that you cultivate the skill to interpret, argue, and stand for justice,” he remarked, inspiring participants to take the competition as a serious step towards their professional excellence.
Welcoming the august gathering, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Asian Education Group and Asian Law College, spoke about the institution’s continued commitment to bridging the gap between academics and practice. He emphasized that ALC has always placed practical learning at the heart of its curriculum. “It is our constant endeavor to provide our students with a global platform where they can learn from the best, compete with the best, and prepare themselves to lead the legal fraternity with vision, courage, and responsibility,” he said. Dr. Marwah further highlighted how the Moot Court Competition strengthens the spirit of international cooperation, bringing young legal minds together from different parts of the world.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the participation of teams representing leading law schools from across India and overseas, creating a melting pot of legal talent. Over the course of the competition, participants will engage in simulated court proceedings, argue complex legal propositions, and present their cases before distinguished panels comprising judges, senior advocates, and academicians.
The dignitaries present lauded Asian Law College for its initiative in hosting such a significant academic exercise that mirrors real-life legal challenges. The event, organized with meticulous planning, reflects the institution’s vision of nurturing professionals who can contribute to the justice delivery system with competence and integrity.
The International Moot Court Competition 2025 is set to serve not only as a platform for skill-building but also as an inspiration for the participating students to become future leaders of the legal profession, carrying forward the values of justice, equality, and ethical advocacy.
