ICMEI Congratulates Ambassador of Philippines on Independence Day

New Delhi, 12th June 2025: The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) extends its warmest congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Josel F. Ignacio, Ambassador of the Philippines to India, and to the wonderful people of the Philippines on the occasion of their National Day—Independence Day—celebrated annually on 12th June.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of ICMEI and Chancellor of AAFT University, expressed his deep appreciation for the strong and growing relationship between India and the Philippines. “India and the Philippines enjoy cordial and time-tested relations, and these bonds are being further strengthened through the power of art, cinema, and culture,” said Dr. Marwah.

He emphasized the impactful work of the Indo Philippines Film and Cultural Forum, established under ICMEI, as a dedicated platform to deepen cultural exchange and cooperation. “The Indo Philippines Film and Cultural Forum is actively working to bring the people of both nations closer through film festivals, academic exchanges, joint artistic ventures, and participation in cultural events,” he added.

Dr. Marwah further noted that the Philippines has become a regular and enthusiastic partner in all major international events hosted by ICMEI. “We are proud to have the active participation of the Philippines in every significant cultural and media initiative we undertake. This collaboration sets a positive example of how cultural diplomacy can unite nations.”

Philippine Cinema Shines at 17th Global Film Festival, Marwah Film City

Noida, India – The 17th Global Film Festival at Marwah Film City proudly showcased the acclaimed Filipino film ITI Mapukpukaw – The Missing, directed by Carl Joseph Papa. The screening was inaugurated by H.E. Josel F. Ignacio, Ambassador of the Philippines to India, in a ceremony that celebrated the rich storytelling traditions of the Philippines.

The film captivated audiences and received widespread appreciation for its compelling narrative and artistic execution. Recognizing its excellence, ITI Mapukpukaw – The Missing was honored with an Award of Appreciation, which was presented by Festival President Dr. Sandeep Marwah to H.E. Josel F. Ignacio.

The Indo-Philippines Film and Cultural Forum proudly conferred its Patronship upon His Excellency Josel Francisco Ignacio, Ambassador of the Philippines to India, during the 17th Global Film Festival held at Marwah Film City, Noida. The honor recognizes the Ambassador’s extensive contributions to fostering international relations and cultural diplomacy.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios and founder of the Indo-Philippines Film and Cultural Forum, expressed his admiration for the Ambassador’s leadership and vision. “It is an honor to present the Patronship to His Excellency Josel Francisco Ignacio. His distinguished career and dedication to diplomacy embody the essence of this Forum, which aims to strengthen bonds between India and the Philippines through art and culture,” said Dr. Marwah.

Ambassador Ignacio brings to this role a wealth of experience spanning nearly 27 years in diplomatic service. Since embarking on his foreign service career in 1997, the Ambassador has demonstrated exceptional expertise across diverse portfolios, including political-security affairs, regional diplomacy, and socio-cultural collaboration.

Key milestones of his illustrious career include:

  • Early leadership roles supporting overseas Filipino workers and advancing socio-cultural and human rights initiatives within multilateral bodies such as the United Nations.
  • Representing the Philippines as a diplomat in Vienna, Tokyo, and Shanghai, strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties.
  • Serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asian and Pacific Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Manila.

With a deep understanding of regional dynamics, Ambassador Ignacio has been instrumental in fostering stronger Asian ties, particularly through his leadership in Northeast Asia affairs and his tenure as Consul General in Shanghai. His current posting in India marks his fourth foreign assignment and underscores his commitment to enhancing Philippines-India relations.

Ambassador Ignacio holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of the Philippines and an A.B. Classical and Philosophy degree from San Carlos Seminary. A lifelong learner, he also participated in the prestigious International Visitor Program on Preventive Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution organized by the U.S. Department of State in 2001.

On receiving the Patronship, Ambassador Ignacio expressed his gratitude and excitement, stating, “It is a privilege to be associated with this significant initiative that celebrates the 75 years of friendship between the Philippines and India. The Indo-Philippines Film and Cultural Forum will serve as a bridge, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration through the powerful medium of art and culture.”

Noida: The AAFT School of Hospitality and Tourism presented an extraordinary culinary showcase featuring the rich and diverse cuisines of the Philippines during the 17th Global Film Festival held at the iconic Marwah Film City, Noida. The event was inaugurated by His Excellency Josel Francisco, Ambassador of the Philippines to India, who graced the occasion with his presence.

ICMEI Celebrated National Day of Philippines


Independence Day of Philippines Celebrated at ICMEI

New Delhi: “I on behalf of Indian Media and Entertainment Industry and Art & Culture Fraternity of India take this opportunity to extend my heartiest congratulations to H.E. Ramon S. Bagatsing Jr. Ambassador of Philippines  to India and people of Philippines on their Independence Day falls on 12th June,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios and ICMEI- International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry while sending his best wishes to the Embassy of Philippines.

To develop and promote relation between two countries India and Philippines a  Cultural Forum of ICMEI- International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry under the name and banner of Indo Philippines Film And Cultural Forum was launched earlier.

ICMEI has been inviting people from Philippines in all important events of national and international stature. Recently educationist Jupeth Toriano Pentang, Dr. Cris T. Zita and Amb. Dr. Froilan D. Mobo attended the International Education Summit. Cristina G. Juan, Sabina C. Moreno and  Corazon Digna C.  Moreno   of Philippines Embassy also attended ASEAN Ladies Meet of ICMEI at Marwah Studios.

ICMEI also supported and was partners with India –ASEAN Business Summit: Today, Tomorrow, Together’ on 11th -12th November 2019 where Philippines took keen interest.

National Day of Philippines Celebrated at Marwah Studios


Sandeep Marwah Congratulated People of Philippines On National Day

Noida: One of the most significant dates in the Philippine’s history is Independence Day because it marks the nation’s independence from the Spanish rule on June 12, 1898. Filipinos celebrate it annually on June 12.

“We extend our heartiest congratulations to the people of Philippines on their National Day. We wish India and Philippines a very strong friendship, Indo Philippines Film And Cultural Forum will soon start working with the Embassy of Philippines to India,” said Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios and International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry.

A poster was launched at Marwah Studios along with the committee on Philippines created at Asian School of Media Studies- AAFT School of Cinema, AAFT School of Fashion and School of Mass Communication and Journalism.
