Rotarian Dr. Sandeep Marwah Inaugurates Abahoni 2025 – Shilpi Sammelan & Heritage Utsav

New Delhi, 23rd August 2025: Rotarian Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios and Chancellor of AAFT University, inaugurated the Handicraft Utsav as part of Abahoni 2025 – Shilpi Sammelan & Heritage Utsav by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Aparajita Mahila Samiti, Chittaranjan Park, New Delhi.

The festival, presented by Women’s Moksha, Subhash Roy & Associates, and DNA, under the leadership of Purnima Bhattacharyya, is being held from 16th to 30th August 2025. It celebrates two towering figures of Indian heritage—the 300th Birth Anniversary of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar and the 165th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sandeep Marwah highlighted the significance of festivals like Abahoni 2025 in preserving India’s rich culture and traditions. He emphasized the role of art, craft, and heritage in fostering national pride and in empowering artisans, weavers, and women across the country.

The vibrant festival is a true showcase of India’s cultural wealth, featuring handloom, handicrafts, textiles, cuisine, and heritage displays. With a strong focus on inclusive participation from rural communities, women, tribal groups, and youth, Abahoni 2025 highlights timeless handcrafted, eco-friendly, and biodegradable products that carry the legacy of sustainability and self-reliance. Coir-based and village-industry products reflecting indigenous knowledge and skills are also a major attraction.

Agamani Bhattacharyya, speaking on behalf of the organizers, shared: The purpose of this festival is to organize celebrations across the nation with special emphasis on tribal and rural segments, thereby creating an ambience for holistic development. Through such initiatives, we aim to promote the cause of art, artists, artisans, weavers, craftsmen, and women empowerment.”

The festival has been envisioned as a platform to strengthen cultural pride while simultaneously empowering local communities, keeping alive the ethos of Bharat’s glorious heritage.

Noida: A grand    handicraft mela recently brought a beautiful creative wave in the city of Noida when 300 artists from all over India reached Noida to participate in this Shilpmahautsav at Noida grounds.

“We all have to be ready with extra skills be it a mechanical or creative. That should be the part of education at the school itself. The extra circular activities promote creativity and make education interesting,” said Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios at the inauguration of Children’s section of Shilpmahautsav at Noida.

“I must congratulate each ad every student present here to be part of this grand celebration at Noida which has been personally attended by many central and state minister to encourage artists of performing arts, fine arts and handicrafts,” added Marwah speaking to hundreds of students from different schools from all over Delhi and Noida.

Varanasi: Legendary educationist and founder of Noida film city Sandeep Marwah was honored with Confluence –Aavaran Award by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India at a grand function at Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul at Badalpur Lamhi, Varanasi for promoting different kinds of art and culture of India.

“It all started with exporting handicrafts to Europe, followed by manufacturing and export of Indian carpets and durries be from Kashmir, Agra, Gwalior, Bhadhoi, Mirzapur, Amritsar and Jaipur. Now I am promoting again handicrafts and textiles through my AAFT School of Fashion And Design,” informed Sandeep Marwah receiving award from the Ministry.

“I am excited that the award has been given in Varanasi, the constituency of our Hon able Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” added Marwah. The function was attended by large number of handicraft and textile manufacturers, Exporters, Government officials from state and Central Government, High Commissioners and Ambassadors from New Delhi and members of Confluence Foundation.

 Three-day exhibition of handicrafts and textile was inaugurated at the most prestigious and popular Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul at Varanasi curated by Eastern UP Exporters Association and the Development Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, from 21st to 23rd April informed Smita Srivastava.
