ICMEI and Indo Tunisia Film and Cultural Forum to Strengthen Ties with New Initiatives

Noida, 27th April 2025: The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) under its Indo Tunisia Film and Cultural Forum is set to further boost cultural and tourism relations between India and Tunisia with a series of exciting activities. A high-level meeting was recently held with H.E. Mrs. Hayet Talbi EP Bilel, the distinguished Ambassador of Tunisia to India, to discuss and plan the forthcoming initiatives.

During the meeting, it was decided that a grand Road Show on Tunisian Tourism will be organized at Marwah Studios, Noida, in association with ICMEI and Indo Tunisia Film and Cultural Forum. The event will serve as a vibrant platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and tourism potential of Tunisia to the Indian audience.

As part of the road show, a special Talk Show will be conducted where Ambassador Hayet Talbi EP Bilel will address the audience and share insights on Tunisia’s tourism, culture, and growing bilateral ties with India. The event will also feature the screening of select Tourism Films from Tunisia, offering attendees a visual journey through the historic landscapes, architectural marvels, and vibrant traditions of the North African nation.

Adding further significance to the program, the prestigious AAFT School of Hospitality and Tourism will extend its full support to the event, reflecting its commitment to promoting international tourism and cultural exchange. Students and faculty members from AAFT will also participate, providing them a unique opportunity to engage with global tourism trends and practices.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of ICMEI and Chair for the Indo Tunisia Film and Cultural Forum, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are proud to collaborate once again with the Embassy of Tunisia. This initiative will not only deepen our cultural ties but also create new avenues for tourism and people-to-people connections between India and Tunisia. Noida, India – March 20, 2025: The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), under the leadership of Dr. Sandeep Marwah, extended warm congratulations to Her Excellency Hayet Talbi, Ambassador of Tunisia, and the people of Tunisia on the occasion of Independence Day, celebrated annually on March 20.

Noida, December 2024: The Indo-Tunisia Film and Cultural Forum, in association with the International Film and Television Club, proudly showcased the Tunisian feature film A Son, directed by Mehdi Barsaoui, at the prestigious 17th Global Film Festival Noida 2024.

The film received an overwhelming response from the audience, who applauded its compelling narrative and cinematic excellence numerous times throughout the screening.

In recognition of its outstanding contribution to cinema, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of 17th Global Film Festival Noida, announced an Award of Distinction for the film during the festival. The announcement was met with thunderous applause from the large gathering present at the event.

Film Look At Me from Tunisia Receives An Award of Distinction at 16th GFFN

Noida: The 16th edition of the Global Film Festival Noida (GFFN) witnessed a compelling cinematic experience on its second day, as the Tunisian film “Look at Me,” directed by Nejib Belkadhi, took center stage. The film, which beautifully portrays the emotional journey of a Tunisian immigrant and his autistic son, earned not only the admiration of the audience but also the distinguished Award of Distinction.

Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, who is also the Chair for the Indo Tunisia Film and Cultural Forum established in collaboration with the Embassy of Tunisia in India, inaugurated the Tunisian film alongside Mr. Ali Meftahi, Deputy Head of the Mission, Embassy of Tunisia, and Professor P.K. Rajput.

“Look at Me” unfolds the poignant narrative of a small-time thug living the life of a Tunisian immigrant, whose world undergoes a profound transformation when he encounters his 9-year-old autistic son. The film resonated deeply with the audience during the screening, captivating the hearts of viewers who became emotionally invested in the story.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, in his address, spoke passionately about the cultural affinity between India and Tunisia and expressed his appreciation for Tunisian cinema. He commended “Look at Me” for its portrayal of the beautiful relationship between a caring father and his son affected by autism. Emphasizing the significance of ongoing film screenings at the 16th Global Film Festival, Dr. Marwah highlighted the commonalities and the strengthened bond between the two nations.

Mr. Ali Meftahi, Deputy Head of the Mission, Embassy of Tunisia, expressed gratitude to Dr. Sandeep Marwah for selecting “Look at Me” for the festival, underscoring the film’s positive reception among Tunisian audiences. He anticipated that the film’s success would inspire more filmmakers in Tunisia to create compelling content. Mr. Meftahi also commended Indian cinema, specifically praising the recent film “RRR.”

Hayet Talbi Ambassador of Tunisia to India with the life membership of International Women’s Forum  in a grand function at Marwah Studios, Noida Film City.

Ambassador of Tunisia Addressed Members of ICMEI

New Delhi: On the invitation of Dr. Sandeep Marwah President International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry, the Ambassador of Tunisia to India, H. E. Hayet Talbi talked about the investment opportunities and tourism of the country and addressed the members of the Chamber. The event was supported by Indo Tunisia Film And Cultural Forum.

Talking about the investment prospects in Tunisia the Ambassador informed that Tunisia is the Northern most country of the continent with close proximity to Europe. With population equivalent to Chennai, 50% of the population is youth. Majority of the students are pursuing or have completed their degree in Engineering which can give the investors’ confidence about the highly skilled work force. With 9 International Airports, 160 Industrial zones, 15 Cyber Parks and 20,000 Kms. Of roads, infrastructure of the country is well developed to lure investors. Indian companies like Mahindra and Mahindra., Tata Motors and many others are already operative in Tunisia. Apart from this the Government has also announced a number of incentive and subsidy schemes for foreign companies.

Speaking about the tourism in Tunisia H. E. Talbi informed that the culture of Tunisia is a mix of many civilizations hence the cuisines, the art forms, the dances are all different across the country. The coastal areas have beautiful beaches and with over 50 hotels of different categories some boast of their private beaches. Heritage sites and monuments of Tunisia are worth visiting. Different festivals are also held from time to time which gives the tourists an essence of varied cultures of Tunisia.

An open session followed the informative video on tourism. Dr, Sandeep Marwah announced the Life membership of International Film and Television Club to the Ambassador. Mr. Ashok Tyagi, Secretary General ICMEI paid the formal vote of thanks.

Noida: A Memorandum of Association was signed between Sandeep Marwah President International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry and  H.E Nejmeddine Lakhal Ambassador Republic of Tunisia to India to develop and promote films, television media ,art and culture.

“We are pleased to sign an arrangement with ICMEI and its associates for the development and promotion of arts and culture between two countries. We want to bring people of two countries close to each other through art and culture,” said H.E Nejmeddine Lakhal Ambassador Republic of Tunisia to India.

“It is a lucky day –World Radio Day and India and Tunisia through ICMEI and Embassy of Tunisia have decided to work on different subjects together bring both the countries close to each other through films, media, art and culture,” added Dr. Sandeep Marwah President ICMEI.

A scholarship has been announced for the deserving student from Tunisia to study at Asian Academy of Film And Television, a festival of films from Tunisia, A cultural show has also been announced. Soon ICMEI will start working on the joint venture of animated film also.

New Delhi: Renowned Educationist and media person Dr. Sandeep Marwah Chancellor of AAFT University has been nominated as the Chair of newly formed Indo Tunisia Film And Cultural Forum by Government of Tunisia.

“We have found the right person for the right post, to be the Chair of Indo Tunisia Film And Cultural Forum today launched by Embassy of Tunisia in India in association with International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry to promote and develop relation between India and Tunisia,” said H.E. Nejmeddine Lakhal Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of Tunisia in India.

Sandeep Marwah five times World Record Holder is the President of Marwah Studios, Asian Education Group and ICMEI, He has recently been also nominated as the Chief Scout of India. Dr. Marwah has been titled as Global Cultural Minister, World Education Leader, Man of Asia and Global Green Ambassador. His contribution to films, television, media, art and culture is beyond words.

New Delhi: H.E Nejmeddine Lakhal the Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of Tunisia in India has been presented with the Patron ship of recently formed organization under the name and banner of Indo Tunisia Film And Cultural Forum by Dr. Sandeep Marwah at Embassy of Tunisia at New Delhi.

We are proud to be associated with    Embassy of Tunisia in India and it is our privilege to present the Patronship of ITFCF-Indo Tunisia Film And Cultural Forum to H.E. Nejmeddine Lakhal. Under his guidance we will be able to promote better relations between India and Tunisia,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry.

“I am pleased to be the Patron of ITFCF, I congratulate the team of ICMEI for taking such a beautiful initiative to develop relation between two countries,” thanked H.E. Nejmeddine Lakhal.

H.E. Nejmeddine Lakhal was earlier Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, 2014 he was In charge of the directorate of multilateral cooperation. In 2012 he was appointed as Deputy Director for multilateral cooperation. In 2012 he acted as Deputy permanent representative, Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations (New Work). In 2007 he was Counsellor for political, press and cultural affairs and Deputy Chief of mission at Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia, Ottawa.

New Delhi: The first ever Indo Tunisia Film And Cultural Forum was inaugurated by H.E Nejmeddine Lakhal the Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of Tunisia in India at Embassy of Tunisia at New Delhi.

“I appreciate the initiative and suggestion of ICMEI of creating a body like Cultural Forum. It’s a very important to develop people to people relation between the two countries and promote each other’s art in our countries. This forum will bring   best of both the countries on a closer platform,” said H.E. Nejmeddine Lakhal Ambassador of Tunisia to India.

“International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry is proud to be associated with the Embassy of Tunisia to launch Indo Tunisia Film And Cultural Forum to develop and promote relation between the two countries on the basis of art and culture,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of ICMEI.

A poster was launched on this occasion to mark respect to the strong relation between two countries India and Tunisia. It was decided to sign MOU in due course of time.

 H.E Nejmeddine Lakhal nominated Dr. Sandeep Marwah as the Chair of the forum. Dr Sandeep Marwah requested the Ambassador to be the first Patron of the Indo Tunisia Film And Cultural Forum. ICMEI Secretary General Ashok Tyagi and Counsellor Admin & Financial Affairs Embassy of Tunisia Mongi Drissi  were also present on the occasion.

ICMEI will soon arrange a list of works to be performed under this prestigious and exclusive body including a scholarship for the deserving student at AAFT University.
