Dr. Sandeep Marwah Congratulates BIS on Its 78th Foundation Day

New Delhi, January 6, 2025: Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios and Chair of the Media and Entertainment Committee at the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Ministry of Consumer Affairs , Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, extended his warmest congratulations to all officers and stakeholders of BIS on the occasion of its 78th Foundation Day, celebrated on January 6.

In his message, Dr. Marwah praised BIS for its unwavering commitment to quality and standardization, which has been instrumental in shaping India’s industrial and economic growth. He lauded the organization’s efforts in fostering innovation, ensuring consumer safety, and building trust in Indian products globally.

“BIS has been a cornerstone of quality assurance in India, ensuring that standards in diverse sectors meet global benchmarks. Its work is vital for a self-reliant India, and I commend the dedication and hard work of everyone associated with BIS,” Dr. Marwah stated.

As the Chair of the Media and Entertainment Committee at BIS, Dr. Marwah highlighted the organization’s strides in setting standards for the fast-evolving media and entertainment industry, a sector critical to India’s cultural and economic landscape.

The 78th Foundation Day marks yet another milestone in BIS’s illustrious history of excellence. The event was celebrated across the country with various programs to recognize the achievements of BIS and its contributions to nation-building.

Dr. Marwah, a renowned media personality and global cultural ambassador, reaffirmed his support and commitment to BIS’s mission of advancing quality standards for the benefit of the nation.

Sandeep Marwah Renominated Chair for M&E Committee BIS Govt. of India

New Delhi: Renowned film, television and media personality Dr. Sandeep Marwah has been renominated as the Chair for Media and Entertainment Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution, Government of India for a period of three years.

Dr Sandeep Marwah, nine times World Record Holder, is the founder of Noida Film City, President of Marwah Studios and Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts. He is also the President of International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry and representing different National and International organizations in India and abroad.

BIS, being the National Standards Body, has been mandated to take up formulation of standards in the 12 Champion Services Sectors identified by the Government of India for focused attention with special attention drawn towards need for standardization. Audio visual Services (Media and Entertainment Services Sector) is one of the Champion Service Sector and there is a need to develop relevant Indian Standards for it on priority basis for which a national committee has been formed of professionals and experts under  Media and Entertainment Services Sectional Committee (SSD 13). 

On his renomination, Dr. Sandeep Marwah expressed his gratitude to the government and thanked them for their continued support in the development of the Media and Entertainment Services Sector.

Sandeep Marwah Chaired Meeting of BIS in Ministry of Consumer Affairs

New Delhi: “I am thankful to each and every member of committee on Media & Entertainment Industry SSD-13 in Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution, Government of India where we are all involved with the planning and designing of standards for Indian media and entertainment Industry,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah National Chairman of the committee while talking to the professionals from the industry in the fifth meeting of the media chapter.

The committee was framed two years back and ten subcommittees were created including Print, Radio, Television & OTT, Cinema, Education & Skill Development, Sound & Music, Event Management, New Media and Advertising.

Every subcommittee has some professionals from the industry sharing their vast experiences and expertise to frame better standards for the industry. The board has invited professionals and experts for suggestions from Airtel Digitel TV, Advertising Standards Council of India, Amazon Prime Video India, Association of Bangalore Animation Industry, Association of Radio Operators of India, Central Board of Film Certification, Children Film Society India, Confederation of Indian Industry and Dolby Technology India P Ltd.

Members from Event and Entertainment Management Association, AAFT University of Media & Arts, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Film Federation of India, Film and Television Institute of India, Hotstar Novi Digital Entertainment, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Indian Motion Picture Producers Association, Indian Music Industry,  Jagran Prakashan Ltd, Media and Entertainment Association of India, Media and Entertainment Skill Council, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneur also been part of the board.

Representatives from International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry, News Paper Association of India, Prasar Bharti, Press Council of India, Press Information Bureau, Radio Noida, PVR Ltd, Service Export Promotion Council, Dharmesh Thakkar Media & Advocacy Consultant, Prakash Naranan Industry Advisor & Specialist, Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers India, Star India, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Yash Raj Films and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. are also active participants of the suggestion groups.
