New Delhi: Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chair of the Media and Entertainment Committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Founder of Noida Film City, and Vice President of FFI, addressed a distinguished gathering of media professionals and students, offering a comprehensive insight into the vision, scope, and progress of the Committee.

While interacting with the audience, Dr. Sandeep Marwah explained that the Media and Entertainment Committee is engaged in a landmark national initiative—the drafting, structuring, and finalization of standardized norms for India’s vast and diverse Media and Entertainment Industry. He emphasized that once completed, these standards will mark a historic achievement, bringing clarity, consistency, global alignment, and long-term growth to the sector.

Dr. Marwah highlighted that all segments of the industry are being deliberated upon in depth through multiple rounds of discussions. These include the industry’s achievements, existing challenges, operational gaps, evolving requirements, historical perspective, and detailed comparisons with international best practices. “Every recommendation placed on the table is the outcome of exhaustive research, dialogue, and collective wisdom,” he stated.

He further informed that nearly 60 of the most experienced and eminent professionals from across the Media and Entertainment ecosystem are actively contributing to this prestigious committee, ensuring that the proposed standards are practical, progressive, and globally relevant.

Dr. Marwah expressed his deep appreciation for the officers and staff of BIS for their sincere efforts, professionalism, and unwavering cooperation, acknowledging their vital role in steering the initiative toward impactful and meaningful outcomes. He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to elevating India’s Media and Entertainment Industry to new global benchmarks through structured standards and collaborative leadership.

New Delhi: Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chair, Media and Entertainment Committee (SSD 13), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, convened a review meeting today to take a first-hand assessment of the progress made by various sectional committees under SSD 13. The meeting focused on evaluating the extensive work completed towards developing and strengthening national standards across the diverse domains of the media and entertainment industry.

Dr. Marwah, who is also the Founder of Noida Film City and Marwah Studios, and Chancellor of AAFT University, expressed deep appreciation for the remarkable volume and quality of work undertaken in framing standards related to Print Media, Radio, Television, Cinema, New Media, OTT platforms, Events, and Media Education, among others. He lauded the structured approach and collaborative spirit demonstrated by the committee members in aligning Indian media standards with global best practices while keeping the unique needs of the Indian industry in mind.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sandeep Marwah said, “The formulation of comprehensive and forward-looking standards is essential for the sustainable growth, quality assurance, and global competitiveness of India’s media and entertainment sector. I am highly impressed by the dedication and expertise reflected in the work done by all the committees under SSD 13. These standards will play a crucial role in professionalizing the industry and ensuring excellence across platforms.”

BIS Marching Towards Its Goals of Preparing Standards for the Media and Entertainment Industry

Noida, 11th October 2025 — The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, continues its progressive efforts toward establishing comprehensive standards for the Media and Entertainment (M&E) Industry. As part of this initiative, Mr. Suryansh Singh, newly appointed Consultant at BIS, visited Marwah Studios to meet Dr. Sandeep Marwah, National Chairman of the Media and Entertainment Committee of BIS, and to gain a detailed understanding of the diverse segments of the industry.

During his full-day visit to Marwah Studios, Mr. Suryansh Singh interacted with various departments and teams, obtaining first-hand insights into film, television, radio, digital media, and education in the creative arts.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, who has been leading the national committee with a vision to systematize and professionalize the fast-evolving media sector, briefed Mr. Singh on the current structure, operations, and opportunities within the Indian M&E ecosystem. He also shared his remarkable journey, including the 11 World Records he has achieved for his outstanding contributions to media and education.

A pioneer in the field, Dr. Marwah is not only the Founder of Noida Film City, but also the visionary behind Marwah Studios, AAFT University of Media and Arts, Radio Noida, and MSTV. He continues to hold key positions in several ministries, social, and professional organizations, representing India’s creative industries on national and international platforms.

The meeting marked an important step toward the BIS initiative of creating standardized frameworks for quality, ethics, and professional benchmarks across all sectors of the media and entertainment industry — a move that will further strengthen India’s global media presence.

BIS Media and Entertainment Committee Meet Held at Marwah Studios

Noida, India – The 13th Media and Entertainment Committee meeting of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, was successfully conducted at Marwah Studios under the esteemed chairmanship of Dr. Sandeep Marwah.

During the meeting, Dr. Sandeep Marwah highlighted the significance of standardization in the media and entertainment industry. He informed the attendees about the various standards being developed under the committee’s supervision. He also emphasized the role of 12 sub-committees comprising 60 industry experts from various disciplines, all working collectively to establish uniform benchmarks for the sector.

“Standardization is crucial in ensuring quality, consistency, and global recognition for India’s growing media and entertainment industry,” said Dr. Marwah. He further expressed gratitude to all committee members for their dedicated efforts in shaping industry standards.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Secretary Member Shivam Soni, acknowledging the contributions of all participants in driving the initiative forward.

 The International Chamber of Media & Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, organized a technical session as part of the Full-Day Summit on Media & Entertainment Standards. The session aimed to explore the importance, objectives, and challenges of standardization in the media and entertainment industry.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chair for the Committee in BIS, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, addressed the gathering and shared his observations on the evolving landscape of media standards. He emphasized the critical role of well-defined standards in fostering industry growth and ensuring quality across various media sectors.

The session featured insightful discussions led by prominent speakers, including: Dr. Pavan Duggal, Renowned Lawyer, specializing in cyber law and media regulations, Maj. Gen. Rajan Kochar, Vice Chairman of the National Council of News and Broadcasting, S.K. Kanojia, Head of Service Sector at BIS, Atul Churamani, Managing Director of Turnkey Music and Publishing Pvt. Ltd., Paritosh Saha, Executive Director of Jio Star, Shivam Soni, Scientist and Member Secretary, BIS.

Each speaker presented compelling case studies, showcasing the need for robust standards to address industry challenges. Discussions highlighted the significance of establishing consistent guidelines to enhance content quality, streamline processes, and address emerging issues in the media and entertainment sectors.

The technical session fostered a collaborative environment for industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to share experiences and insights, paving the way for a more standardized and efficient media ecosystem in India. Later Dr Sandeep Marwah honoured all the speakers with the life membership of International Journalism Centre of Marwah Studios.

Sandeep Marwah Inaugurates the 24th Convocation of Kathak Kendra and Presents Diplomas

New Delhi: Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts and an influential figure in the promotion of Indian art and culture, inaugurated and presented diplomas at the 24th Convocation of Kathak Kendra, the National Institute of Kathak Dance, under the Ministry of Culture’s Sangeet Natak Akademi, Government of India. The convocation was a celebration of the achievements of young classical dancers and an acknowledgment of Kathak Kendra’s contributions to preserving and promoting India’s classical dance heritage.

In his convocation address, Dr. Marwah emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and fostering a passion for the arts. “It is essential to cherish and promote our art and culture. Schools like Kathak Kendra are vital to carrying forward the legacy of Indian classical arts. I am honored to be part of this convocation and wish the graduating students a bright and fulfilling future in dance.”

Kathak Kendra, also known as the National Institute of Kathak Dance, is renowned for its dedication to teaching and preserving Kathak, one of India’s most celebrated classical dance forms. As a constituent unit of Sangeet Natak Akademi, India’s National Academy of Music, Dance, and Drama, the institution has been a significant force in nurturing the talents of young dancers across the country.

The convocation ceremony showcased vibrant performances by diploma holders, featuring choreographies both created and directed by students, highlighting their artistic journey and dedication to the classical dance form.

Smt. Pranaame Bhagawati, Director of Kathak Kendra, presented a memento to Dr. Marwah in appreciation of his presence and for supporting joint programs between AAFT and Kathak Kendra. She expressed optimism for future collaborative efforts aimed at furthering the reach of Kathak and other classical art forms.

Noida: : In a historic visit to Marwah Studios at Noida Film City, Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, inaugurated the new Suraj Parkash Marwah Shooting Floor, named in honor of Dr. Sandeep Marwah’s father. This momentous occasion added a new chapter to the legacy of Marwah Studios, an integral part of India’s media landscape.

The Minister’s visit was marked by an in-depth tour of the Marwah Studios campus, where he personally examined the wide array of facilities and departments, including production studios, post-production units, the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) division, Artificial Intelligence (AI) units, the expansive library, amphitheater, screening theaters, fine arts departments and education & training facilities. His keen interest in the infrastructure and its contribution to the Indian media industry was evident throughout the visit.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios, took the opportunity to present Dr. Murugan with a comprehensive briefing on the achievements of the studios, including a collection of books documenting their numerous accomplishments.

Impressed by the cutting-edge facilities and Marwah Studios’ contribution to the industry, Dr. Murugan expressed his admiration for Dr. Marwah’s visionary role in establishing not only Noida Film City but also in shaping the film, television, and media business in the region.

Sandeep Marwah Renominated Chair for M&E Committee BIS Govt. of India

New Delhi: Renowned film, television and media personality Dr. Sandeep Marwah has been renominated as the Chair for Media and Entertainment Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution, Government of India for a period of three years.

Dr Sandeep Marwah, nine times World Record Holder, is the founder of Noida Film City, President of Marwah Studios and Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts. He is also the President of International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry and representing different National and International organizations in India and abroad.

BIS, being the National Standards Body, has been mandated to take up formulation of standards in the 12 Champion Services Sectors identified by the Government of India for focused attention with special attention drawn towards need for standardization. Audio visual Services (Media and Entertainment Services Sector) is one of the Champion Service Sector and there is a need to develop relevant Indian Standards for it on priority basis for which a national committee has been formed of professionals and experts under  Media and Entertainment Services Sectional Committee (SSD 13). 

On his renomination, Dr. Sandeep Marwah expressed his gratitude to the government and thanked them for their continued support in the development of the Media and Entertainment Services Sector.

We are Reaching towards our Goal of Setting Standards for M&E Industry- Sandeep Marwah

New Delhi:” I congratulate all the members of Media and Entertainment Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards specially formed to set the standards of Indian Media and Entertainment Industry of the Republic of India. Sixty members team has been putting their best day in day out to gather best of the information from different parts of the World in different disciplines to reach to the common goal,” said Sandeep Marwah National Chairman of M&E SSD13 BIS, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution, Government of India during the seventh meeting at Manak Bhawan.

“This is for the first time that Indian Government has decided to have standards for media and entertainment industry. I am thankful to all of you for being part of this historical movement. I am sure very soon we all will be reaching towards our goal of setting standards,” added Sandeep Marwah Charing the meeting.

“We have created committees like Print, Radio, Television & OTT, Cinema, Music & Sound, Events, Media Education & Skill Development, Advertising, New Media and number of experts are now associated with the committee,” said BIS official Sanjay Goswami Sc.F & Head SSD-1 BIS, Ministry of Consumer Affairs.

World Consumer Rights Day Observed at Marwah Studios

Noida: The consumer movement marks 15th March with World Consumer Rights Day every year, as a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs. Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights.

“World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by President John F Kennedy, who sent a special message  to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so. The consumer movement first marked that date in 1983 and now uses the day every year to mobilise action on important issues and campaigns,” informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios and Patron to IFUNA- Indian Federation of United Nations Association in a small meeting at Marwah Studios Film City Noida to make people aware about the day.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah is also serving as the National Chairman of Media & Entertainment Committee of BIS, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India. He has been working on the upgradation of the complete Industry standards to satisfy consumers of the nation. The event was supported by International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry.

New Delhi: “This is just to inform you about the media and entertainment upgradation committee of Bureau of Indian Standard under Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution where all the segments have been taken into account including education in media and entertainment industry. I am happy to coordinate it through another important committee in AICTE in ministry of Education,’ said Dr. Sandeep Marwah also member of Board of Applied Arts Crafts & Design in AICTE Ministry of Education, during board meeting.

It is suggested that courses related to films and television now can be given AICTE approval for better creditability. Some of the prominent people from the creative World attended the meeting at AICET Board of Applied Arts Crafts & Design.

Sandeep Marwah On the Board of AICTE



New Delhi: Renowned film, television, and media person Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios with seven World Records to his credit, is on the board of AICTE-All India Council of Technical Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India informed Dr. Ramesh Unnikrishnan Advisor-II (P& AP).

AICTE has reconstituted a body under the name and banner of All India Board of Applied Arts, Crafts and Design and has invited Dr. Sandeep Marwah on the board of this special setup. This has the approval of the Competent Authority of the AICTE.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah is the founder of Noida Film City, Marwah Studios and Chancellor of AAFT University. He has been in creative arts for more than 40 years and has been associated with all kinds of arts and crafts of India. He has been the producer of largest number of short films in the World and has been a part of more than 7000 cultural programs all these years of all genres.

National Consumer Right Day Celebrated at ICMEI

New Delhi: National Consumers Right Day  is observed on 24 December to raise awareness about the rights of consumers and responsibilities. This is the day when the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 had received the assent of the President

“The aim of the enactment of the Consumer Protection Act is to provide safeguards to consumers against various types of exploitation like defective goods, deficiency in services, and unfair trade practices,” informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of ICMEI and National Chairman for Media And Entertainment Committee of BIS, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India at a webinar hosted in association with Asian Law College.

“A consumer is a person who buys any goods or avails a service for consideration. It does not consist of a person who obtains a good for resale or a good or service for commercial purposes. It also covers transactions through several modes like offline, online via electronic means, teleshopping, multi-level marketing, or direct selling,” added Dr. Marwah while talking to the members of International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry. The session was followed by discussion and question answers.

New Delhi: The Leadership of PHD Chamber of Commerce And Industries including Dr. D.K. Agarwal President of the Chamber, Sanjay Aggarwal Senior Vice President of the Chamber and Pradeep Multani Vice President of the Chamber congratulated Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios on his new appointment in Government of India in the Management Committee of PHDCCI.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah renowned international media person has been nominated as the National Chairman of the newly constituted Media And Entertainment Committee of Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution in BIS- Bureau of Indian Standard. The committee will set the standards of Indian media and entertainment industry, which is the sixth biggest industry of the country. The M&E industry has touched last year a turnover of 2,35000 crores and expected to reach 3,00,000 crores by 2024.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah also invited the Minister to International Head Quarters of International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry at Marwah Studios, Film City Noida to visit and to see for himself as how ICMEI is organized. “ The campaign was aimed at informing people about various government initiatives, which have resulted in raising the living standards of people. A lot of work had been done to remove the problems people faced in villages and to help the poor live a better,” said Vijay Jolly handing over the catalogue to Marwah.

New Delhi: Sandeep Marwah renowned film and media personality and president of Marwah Studios has been taken on the board of Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana a National body created to bring in a feeling of patriotism in the youth of the country through films, television and media.

“The first event we have planned in the organization is a film festival of short films in the form of animation, documentary, campus films in different genre and duration depicting a love for the country,” said Alok Kumar Chairman of the organization and Vice President Delhi RSS.

“We will conduct a separate press conference to highlight the issues and detailed program of the festival to be conducted for three days at Srifort auditorium,” added J Nand Kumar Member Executive Committee RSS

Indira Gandhi Centre for Arts, Asian Academy of Film And Television and International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry will work together to promote the festival,” said Sachidanand Joshi Secretary of Indira Gandhi Centre for Arts.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to provide my vast experience in organizing film festivals and to my services towards not only entertainment industry but nation building,” said Sandeep Marwah joining the core group.

The first poster of film festival was jointly released by the dignities at the meeting of Bharatiya Chitra Sadhana. Advaita Kala renowned writer, Arun Arora trustee, Rakesh Mittal of Indore, Narender Thakur, Akashaditya Lama Bapat, Pramod were also present there.
