Cuban Documentary “Sacha: A Child from Chernobyl” Screened at 13th Global Festival of Journalism & AVGC Noida 2025

Noida, India – The 13th Global Festival of Journalism, held in association with AVGC Noida 2025, proudly hosted the screening of the moving Cuban documentary “Sacha: A Child from Chernobyl”, directed by Roberto Chile and Maribel Acosta Damas. The screening was part of the festival’s continued emphasis on global narratives and was organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Cuba.


The thought-provoking documentary, which delves into the human and emotional aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster through the eyes of a child named Sacha, resonated deeply with the audience. The film highlights the compassion, international solidarity, and humanitarian response following one of history’s most devastating nuclear incidents.


Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of the Festival and Chair of the Indo-Cuba Film and Cultural Forum, addressed the attendees and emphasized the strong cultural and emotional ties between India and Cuba. He noted, “Films like Sacha not only tell a story — they remind us of the power of humanity and the importance of compassion across borders. India and Cuba share a deep respect for cultural exchange, and platforms like this celebrate that spirit.”


In recognition of the film’s excellence and social impact, a Certificate of Distinction was announced and later formally presented to the Ambassador of Cuba at his office. The certificate will be sent to the directors as a symbol of appreciation and admiration from the Indian film and journalism community.

Noida, 13th February 2025 — Adding a flavorful twist to the ongoing celebrations, the AAFT School of Hospitality and Tourism presented an exquisite spread of authentic Cuban cuisine at Marwah Studios during the 13th Global Festival of Journalism & AVGC Noida 2025.

The culinary showcase was a vibrant reflection of Cuba’s rich gastronomic heritage and its cultural ties with India. Students and chefs from AAFT delighted guests with traditional Cuban dishes, offering a sensory journey through Caribbean flavors.

The event, which took place on the third day of the festival, commenced with a gracious welcome extended to esteemed guests, followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts, set the tone for the evening by expressing his deep admiration for Cuban films and culture. He highlighted the power of cinema in exploring diverse places and fostering cultural understanding.

Noida: Social Media are interactive media technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, interests, and other forms of expression through virtual communities and networks.  The office of Communications and Marketing manages the main Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube accounts etc.,” initiated Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of 15th Global Film Festival Noida 2022, Seminar on the first day of the festival on Social Media and Cinema.

“Big film studios and indie film production companies alike are mastering the tools of social media to tell the stories of their projects, drive the conversations and generate that all important buzz well before their projects are seen by audiences,” added Malena Rojas Medina Cultural Counsellor, Embassy of Cuba.

“Social media marketing is a very useful tool for introducing your venue to new audiences, or further engaging existing ones. It is also particularly useful for targeting audiences for more niche screenings and events,” expressed Rajesh Talang renowned actor from Mumbai.

“Digital media has restructured working models for the music, television, film, and publishing industries. As a result, TV shows and movies have gradually embraced the on-demand mode on every electronic device,” said Dr. P.K. Rajput former Vice President Cadila Pharmaceuticals.

“Social media is important because it allows you to reach, nurture, and engage with your target audience — no matter their location. When a business can use social media to connect with its audience, it can use social media to generate brand awareness, leads, sales, and revenue,” informed Hemant Nitin Das writer, producer and Cinema Director.

“The Internet simplifies the process of entering films into contests and makes it possible to network with many more people. We made it a point to have film from Cuba for 15th Global Film Festival Noida 2022,” said Malena Rojas Media Cultural Counsellor of Cuba, Embassy of Cuba in New Delhi.

Cuba Film Industry may not be very big but it has produced some of the finest films. The purpose of the Indo Cuba Film and Cultural Forum is to promote and develop relation between the people of two countries through art and culture. Cinema speaks everything in a big way,” said Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios and Chair for Indo Cuba Film and Cultural Forum.

El Mayor is undoubtedly a long-awaited film in Cuba, where Agramonte is remembered as a symbol of the struggle for independence, a legendary figure, an example of the courage of those who gave their lives in the redemptive battle fields. Based on real events from the mid-nineteenth century, the film shows the incidents and anecdotes from the intense life of the Cuban hero Ignacio Agramonte from childhood to his death.

Hemant Nitin Das producer, Director and Writer from Mumbai also spoke on cinema. Later Dr. Sandeep Marwah announced the Award of Distinction to the film El Mayor and presented to Malena Rojas Medina. Indo Cuba Film and Cultural Forum has been designed to develop and promote relation between the people of two countries India and Cuba through art and culture. International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry has a lot to offer to Cuba including Radio, Television, Media coverages, music and dance recitals, exhibitions, tourism & hospitality, performing arts, fine arts etc. The forum will look after the promotions of these activities,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of ICMEI.

The launching  was attended by the country’s eminent film producer and President of the Film Federation of India T P Agarwal; former Deputy Director General DD National and founder of Lok Sabha TV Sudhir Tandon, Art and Culture campaigner Dinesh Upadhyay Sushil Bharti Director Radio Noida 107.4FM. Large number of film makers from all over India were also present there.

Liberation Day of Cuba Celebrated at ICMEI

 Noida: ICMEI- The working team of ICMEI- International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry in association with AAFT- Asian Academy of Film And Television celebrated the 60th Liberation Day of Cuba at Marwah Studios.

“On January 1, Cubans marked National Liberation Day. Some 60 years back, the revolution led by Fidel Castro and his rebel army defeated the last Cuban capitalist government and drove the nation's fate along a new path: Socialism,” informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Chamber to the media professionals gathered to participate in the event.     

“I extends my heartiest congratulations to the people of Cuba on their 60th Liberation Day on 1st January and pray for stronger and lively relation between two countries,” added Dr. Marwah while releasing the goodwill poster.

 IFUNA- Indian Federation of United Nations Associations, IFTC- International Film And Television Club, IFTRC- International Film And Television Research Centre, IPBF- International Public Broadcasting Forum and IHRO- International Human Rights Organization supported the event.
