9th Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2021

New Delhi: “A wonderful comparison can be made between conventional and social media. The advantages and disadvantages are no more hidden from even the youngest part of the society. What more can be important than this topic today. For us both are important and necessary but do require some sort of checks too,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios at the first session of third day of 9th Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2021 online.

Social media is instant, easy to express, fastest in nature, reach is high, spread news faster, few words are required, catch on fast with other media on the other hand conventional media is slow, takes its own time, make you wait for space and time, series of checking and correction, delivery of news is much late but authentic, confirmed and describes fully. Social media is easily open to fake news,” said Niyan Ehya Charge d’ Affairs of Embassy of Gabon in New Delhi.

“You reach large audiences, have a direct connection with your audience, can create organic content, have access to paid advertising services, build your brand, drive traffic to your website and you can evaluate your performance added Swetha Reddy Ghazala BJP National Leader.

IJC Observed International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists

International Journalism Centre Observed 2nd November

New Delhi: “In the past fourteen years approx. 12oo journalists have been killed for reporting the news and bringing information to the public. In nine out of ten cases the killers go unpunished. Impunity leads to more killings and is often a symptomof worsening conflict and the breakdown of law and judicial systems,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of International Journalism Centre at the conference at Marwah Studios to observe International Day to End Impunity For Crimes against Journalists.

These figures do not include the many more journalists, who on a daily basis suffer from non-fatal attacks, including torture, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, intimidation and harassment in both conflict and non-conflict situations. Furthermore, there are specific risks faced by women journalists, including sexual attacks.

“When attacks on journalists remain unpunished, a very negative message is sent that reporting the “embarrassing truth” or “unwanted opinions” will get ordinary people in trouble. Furthermore, society loses confidence in its own judiciary system which is meant to protect everyone from attacks on their rights. Perpetrators of crimes against journalists are thus emboldened when they realize they can attack their targets without ever facing justice,” added Dr. Marwah.

Large number of young and old journalist attended the webinar. The event was supported by International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry and AAFT School of Mass Communication and Journalism.
