Sandeep Marwah Inaugurated Global Summit on Prison Reforms

New Delhi: “Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes, but that does not mean that you should take law into your hands. The fact is that we learn from failures and not from success.,” initiated Dr. Sandeep Marwah Chancellor of AAFT University of Media And Arts while inaugurating Global Summit on Prison Reforms organised by Dr. Raju Anthony of All India Council of Human Rights Liberties and Social Justice online.

“It all started with The Prison Act 1894 followed by The Transfer of Prison Act 1950 and The Repatriation of Prison Act 2003. There are rules, Model Prison Manuals, Advisories, Guidelines, Reports and Actions but all of them need revision once again,” added Dr. Marwah

Justice Balakrishnan former Chief Justice of India, Anand Kumar IPS DG & IG Prison Uttar Pradesh, Sutapa Sanyal IPS former DGP Uttar Pradesh, Ramesh Gupta Sr. Advocate Chairman Bar Council of Delhi, Dr. Vikram Singh IPS former DGP Uttar Pradesh, Sunil Gupta former Legal Officer Tihar Jail, Dr. Parag Dewan founder Vice Chancellor University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dr. Ameena Ali Social Worker from USA, S.K.Sharma IPS Former DG National Crime Records Bureau, Michelle H. Svan Quick Denmark, Dr. Tess Martin Australia, Aparna Thapa Bhattarai Nepal spoke on the occasion.

A long list of corrections, amendments, changes, additions, subtraction in the system came forward during the Global Summit on Prison Reforms.

Dr. June Ann Secretary proposed vote of thanks and presented participation certificates to the dignities. The event was recorded for research purposes. The points which were generated out of this discussion will be submitted to the concerned department of Government of India.
