Festival of Films from Belarus at Marwah Studios

Noida: The Cinema of Belarus began on 17 December 1924 with the creation by decree of what later became Belarusfilm studio. The studio was moved to Minsk in 1939. Film production was interrupted by World War II  and restarted in 1946, when the studio assumed its current name. Most of the output has been in Russian  rather than Belarusian.,’ said H.E. Andrei Rzheussky Ambassador of Belarus to India while lighting the ceremonial lamp at the inauguration of festival of films from Belarus.

“We are thankful to International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry and Indo Belarus Film and Cultural Forum for organizing the festival. I hope you all will like the four films opted for this festival. The industry in Belarus may not be very big but we are definitely making some good films which have become   popular internationally,” added H.E. Andrei Rzheussky Ambassador of Belarus addressing the jam packed hall at Marwah Studios, Noida Film City.

“Films are the best Ambassador of culture of any country. It is a wonderful opportunity for the film lovers to learn about Cinema and culture of Belarus. The country offers beautiful locations and a friendly environment to even shoot films in Belarus. The students of AAFT School of Cinema are getting associated with new ways of film making,” said Sandeep Marwah President Marwah Studios and ICMEI.

H.E. Lukmon Bobokalonzoda Ambassador of Tajikistan to India, H.E. Shalar Geldynazarov Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Darkhan Seitenov Deputy Head of the Embassy of Kazakhstan, Roman Babushkin Deputy Head of Embassy of Russia, Jose Escorihuela Deputy Head of the Mission Venezuela, Ambassador K.V. Rajan were the guests of honour and they also appreciated the festival of Belarus Films.

Four films including ‘Heritage’ Directed by Tatiana Afanasieva, ‘On the Surface’
Directed by Alexander Anisimov, ‘The Gamer Rules’ by Olga Alexandrov and ‘Tum Pabi Dum’ Directed by Vyacheslav Nikiforov were part of the festival.

It was well attended by the members of Indo Belarus Film and Cultural Forum &   International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry. The event was planned by  Anastasiya of Embassy of Belarus. Arijit Paul Director AAFT School of Cinema presented vote of thanks. The event was executed by Haripriya Banga Director Events  and Rajiv Mathur Director ICMEI.
