World Book Day Celebrated at AAFT University

World Book Day Celebrated at AAFT University

New Delhi: World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day, or International Day of the Book, is an annual event  organized by the United Nations Educational Scienific and Cultural Organization  (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing and copyright. The first World Book Day was celebrated on 23 April in 1995, and continues to be recognized on that day.

“Books have the power to transport us to new worlds and different times, but they can also take us back to the important moments in our own lives. Many of us have special memories of the books that have inspired us, and have learned the profound effect that reading the right book can have at the right moment. From building your vocabulary to reducing stress, preventing age-related cognitive decline and increasing your ability to empathize, reading books is an easy way to look after your mind and body,” said Sandeep Marwah President of AAFT University in a webinar organised to celebrate World Book Day in association with ICMEI.

During all these months when all of us have seen periods of confinement and people have had to limit their time spent outside, books have proved to be powerful tools to combat isolation, reinforce ties between people, expand our horizons, while stimulating our minds and creativity. This pandemic has revived the habit of reading books,” added Sandeep Marwah while mentioning Sewa Ram Marwah Library at Marwah Studios.

Read Books Suggested by Sandeep Marwah On World Book Day

World Book Day Celebrated at ICMEI on Line

New Delhi: “ when all the schools around the country are closed and people are not supposed to leave home, the power of books should be leveraged to fight isolation, reinforce ties between people, expand our horizons, while stimulating our minds and creativity,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of AAFT University while talking to students on line on World Book Day.

“Books are a uniquely portable magic. That’s the thing about books, they let you travel without moving your feet. These authors, writers, and thinkers know that magical worlds await in between two covers and a spine. I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library. When I have a little money, I buy books,” added Sandeep Marwah.

Through reading and the celebration of World Book and Copyright Day, 23 April, we can open ourselves to others despite distance, and we can travel thanks to imagination. All these days UNESCO will share quotes, poems and messages to symbolize the power of books and encourage reading as much as possible. By creating a sense of community through the shared readings and the shared knowledge, readers around the world can connect and mutually help curb loneliness.

In such circumstances, we invite students, teachers and readers from around the world as well as the book industry and library services to testify and express their love for reading. We encourage you to share this positive message with others- ‘Stay At Home read books and celebrate World Book Day.
