Noida: The 17th Global Film Festival Noida 2024 has received an overwhelming response with around 100 films on the theme of disability submitted from across the globe. In recognition of the importance of this subject, the festival has created a dedicated segment to showcase these films, overseen by the AAFT School of Health and Wellness.
“The purpose of this initiative is to sensitize audiences toward disability and to convey a powerful message that individuals with disabilities are often more capable and inspiring than many of us realize,” stated Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of the festival.
Koshish-Sahyog, a voluntary organization of Marwah Studios, has been championing the cause of disability awareness for the past 31 years. Since the inception of AAFT in 1993, films focusing on disability have been an integral part of the institution’s curriculum. Over time, this initiative expanded to become a key feature of the Global Film Festival Noida, where it has been a prominent segment for the past 16 years.
“Through 122 editions of the mini film festival on disability conducted for every AAFT batch in Noida, we have empowered film, television, and media professionals to understand the unique challenges, resilience, and perspectives of individuals with disabilities,” added Dr. Marwah.
This year’s special section aims to further amplify voices that are often unheard, driving a global conversation around inclusivity and empathy.
