Conference Focuses on Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and Knowledge Sharing
Dubai, UAE – The first-ever hybrid conference of the Association for Asia Pacific Union (AAPU) was successfully held in Dubai, marking a historic moment as the organization’s first major event outside of India. Themed “Sustainable Development in Asia & Asia-Pacific for Peace & Prosperity,” the conference emphasized climate change, cultural connectivity, and global health.
The event featured a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and CEOs, who engaged in discussions on the escalating climate crisis and the inadequacy of governmental responses. Participants from the USA, Australia, and India joined virtually, contributing to a dynamic exchange of ideas on tackling key regional challenges.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios, Indian Cultural Ambassador, and Patron of AAPU, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the urgent need for global collaboration and self-reliance in addressing climate change. Dr. Marwah lauded the meaningful discourse facilitated by the conference and called for greater unity among nations.
The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Y.P. Chawla, Program Director and Chairman of the Pacific Region, who joined virtually from Sydney. Mr. Satish Shenoy played a crucial role in organizing the conference, ensuring its seamless execution. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. J.S. Saluja, President of AAPU, followed by insightful contributions from various global experts.
In her closing remarks, Ms. Ritu Saluja, Secretary AAPU-UAE, expressed gratitude to all participants and extended greetings for the upcoming Ramadan, marking the conclusion of the conference with a formal vote of thanks and a networking dinner.
The discussions reinforced concerns over the limited progress made since the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the 29 COP summits. The general consensus among the delegates was that developed nations have fallen short in providing essential funding and technological support to developing countries.
As a result, the conference underscored a crucial message: “UNITE AND SHARE EXPERTISE, EXPERIENCE, KNOW-HOW, AND RESOURCES TO BECOME SELF-RELIANT.”
The next AAPU Conference is scheduled to take place in Sydney in August 2025, continuing the organization’s commitment to fostering climate action, sustainable development, and knowledge exchange on a global scale.
