Asian Unity Day Celebrated by Association of Asian Union
Delhi, 2nd April, 2013: “I extend my heartiest congratulations to all those who have been associated with the concept of Asian Union and have been working on this subject now for a long time” said Sandeep Marwah Ambassador of International Human Rights Organization affiliated to United Nation on 2nd April at India International Centre on the occasion of Asian Unity Day.
“It was from 23 March, to 2 April 1947 that Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru Minister, Sarojini Naidu, C. Rajagopalachary and Maulana Abul kalam Azad and others organized the first Asian Relations Conference in Purana Quila of New Delhi. The fact that they did it in the mist of the Independence Struggle and just 5 months before August 15, 1947 shows the importance the Asian Idea had in their mind. Delegations from 28 Asian countries had come to attend the Conference” informed Dr. Beni Prasad Agarwal President of AAU.
Association of Asian Union decided to organize an international conference for two days and invite people from all Asian Countries on the same subject.
