Noida: The International Journalism Centre (IJC) recently conferred the title of Life Member to the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to India, His Excellency Ashraf Shikhaliyev, for his contribution in enhancing cultural relations between India and Azerbaijan through the Indo-Azerbaijan Film and Cultural Forum, presented together by Lord Remi Ranger of House of Lords British Parliament and Dr. Sandeep Marwah Chancellor AAFT University.

The ceremony took place during the 11th Global Festival of Journalism in Noida, an initiative aimed at promoting the importance of journalism in fostering cross-cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Lord Rami Ranger is a founding member of the Hindu Forum of Britain, and Chairman of the Pakistan, India & UK Friendship Forum, and the British Sikh Association. His company, Sun Mark Ltd, is the only company in the UK to have awarded 5 consecutive Queens Awards for the enterprise.

He is also the Patron of the Punjabi Society of British Isles, Combat Stress and Fellow of the Prince’s Trust. As a key supporter of youth and skills development, Rami is a member of the government’s Apprenticeship Delivery Board and an Ambassador for the Food and Drinks Industry in the development of apprenticeships and job creation throughout the UK.

In 2005 he was made a Member of the British Empire and in 2016 the Commander of British Empire for his services to British Business and the Asian Community.

Noida: The documentary film “Legend of Kharibulbul” by professional Swedish photographer and filmmaker Mikael Silkeberg begged the Award of Distinction at 11th Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2023. The award was presented by Festival President Dr. Sandeep Marwah to Ambassador of Azerbaijan H.E.  Dr. Ashraf Shikhaliyev in a grand function after the screening of the film.

“Art and culture play a vital role in strengthening the ties between India and Azerbaijan. Both countries have a rich cultural heritage that can be shared and celebrated. Collaborations in fields such as music, dance, and cinema can deepen mutual understanding and promote people-to-people connections. Let us work towards building a strong cultural bridge between our nations,” spoke Dr. Sandeep Marwah at the event.

“India and Azerbaijan enjoy warm and friendly relations based on historical and cultural ties. Bilateral cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, and investment has strengthened our partnership. The documentary, shot on the initiative of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Sweden, with the support of the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO and Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture, features remarks by a number of well-known cultural and artistic figures about history of Karabakh and its crown – the city of Shusha, its music and literature, as well as historical figures. The shootings of the film also took place in Shusha.

Prof. N.K. Goyal  is President, CMAI Association of India (CMAI), which is India largest ICT association of India with 48,500 members and 54 MOU partners worldwide. Prof. Goyal is the only person in the world having being honoured five consecutive years at world’s largest Consumer Electronic show called CES, Las Vegas.

CMAI – Association of India Communication Multimedia and Infrastructure,  is also known as organizers of ICT World Communication Awards, National Education Summit and Awards, Global ICT Forum, training and formation of Cyber Security-Ethical Hacking and safe web development. Street Play by AAFT Cinema Students was a Big Hit During Global Festival

Noida: The AAFT School of Cinema organized a street play on social issues during all the three days of 11th Global Festival of Journalism at Marwah Studios, that received appreciation from all who witnessed it. The play was a collaborative effort by the students, who wrote, directed, and performed the play themselves.

Noida: “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was an Indian statesman and one of the leaders of the Indian independence movement. He was India’s first deputy prime minister and played a key role in the integration of India’s princely states into a united, independent nation after India’s partition in 1947 informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah to the House on the launching of his poster during 11th Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2023.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s works were focused on the unification of India’s princely states and building a strong, unified nation. Noida: Media is vital for spreading information, shaping public opinion, and providing a platform for diverse voices and perspectives. Television is the important segment of the same. Television has come a long way since its inception, and the new millennium has brought about significant changes to the medium. Today we are here to discuss television in this round table,” initiated Dr. Sandeep Marwah founder of Noida Film City and President Marwah Studios in the opening session of the discussion.

“ The transition from analog to digital broadcasting has completely changed the way television is transmitted and received. Digital signals provide better picture and sound quality, as well as increased channel capacity and interactivity,” said Lord Rami Ranger of House of Lords, British Parliament, while lighting the ceremonial lamp.

“The rise of streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime has revolutionized the way people consume television. Streaming services offer a wide variety of content, including original programming, and allow viewers to watch shows on their own schedule,” said H.E. Muhamed Cengic, Ambassador of Bosnia & Herzegovina to India.

“The introduction of smart TVs has transformed the viewing experience by combining the traditional TV with internet connectivity, allowing viewers to access streaming services, browse the web, and even control their smart homes from their TV screens,” added H.E. Ashraf Shikhaliyev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to India.

The new millennium saw the rise of reality television, with shows like Survivor and Big Brother becoming popular worldwide. This genre has since evolved to include a wide range of formats, from dating shows to talent competitions,” expressed Avinash Raj, CEO, Mitwa TV.

“Social media has had a profound impact on television, providing viewers with a platform to share their opinions and engage with their favourite shows and stars. Networks and producers have also embraced social media as a way to promote their shows and interact with their audiences,” narrated Ramnath Rajesh, senior journalist.

“ The advent of high-definition television has brought about a significant improvement in picture quality, with many networks and streaming services now offering content in 4K resolution.,“  extended Kumar Mohan, renowned film journalist from Mumbai.

“The availability of entire seasons of shows on streaming services has led to the phenomenon of binge-watching, where viewers watch multiple episodes or even entire seasons in one sitting,” spoke Prem Bhardwaj, Gyanbhiksu, renowned author.

“The ability to record shows and watch them later has become commonplace, with digital video recorders and on-demand services allowing viewers to watch shows at their convenience,” condensed Sushil Bharti of Radio Noida. Film Basotho Culture from Lesotho begged Award of Distinction at GFJN

The Indo-Lesotho cultural relationship has further enhanced mutual respect, understanding, and a shared vision for a better future. As cultural ambassadors of their respective nations, artists, and cultural enthusiasts play a vital role in bridging the gap and nurturing the relationship between the two countries,”  expressed Thabang Linus Kholumo, Charge d’ Affairs, High Commission of The Kingdom of Lesotho while lighting the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the screening of Lesotho documentary.

This documentary is about Basotho , their culture and meaning behind their cultural activities. The film is from Moshoeshoe, the founder of Basotho Nation. It is directed by Lehlohonolo Mayeza.

Present on the occasion AAFT alumna and Miss Deaf Universe Vidisha Baliyan thanked AAFT for providing so much of facilities to students including giant festivals like Global Festival of Journalism. “I have learned from these kind of events, I owe my success to AAFT,” said Vidisha humbly.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah announced an Award of Distinction to Documentary from Lesotho-“Basotho Culture” and presented the award to Thabang Linus Kholumo along with festival memento.

The program was conducted by Mehak Zaidi, Asst. Prof., AAFT School of Mass Communication & Journalism. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Festival Director. The event was supported by Asian Unity Alliance, World Peace Development and Research Foundation,  AAFT University, and Indo Lesotho Film and Cultural Forum.

The cultural exchange program between the two nations has led to a better understanding of each other’s traditions and values. This collaboration has opened up avenues for mutual learning and growth, cementing the relationship between India and Cyprus on a cultural level,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah Founder of Noida Film City and President of GFJN at the screening of Cyprus Documentary at Marwah Studios.

Yiannakis Makrides Deputy Head of the Mission, High Commission of Cyprus inaugurated the documentary film “ Olga’s Garden”. It is an audio-visual statement on the impact of high rises on the lives of citizens who live in between the construction sites, and its effect on their private and shared space. The film is produced by Maria Loizidou, and Danae Stylianou from Cyprus.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah presented festival memento and  the Award of Distinction to Cyprus Documentary received by Yiannakis Makrides immediately after the screening. The event was supported by Asian Unity Alliance,  Indo Cyprus Film and Cultural Forum & World Peace Development and Research Foundation.

A Documentary From Kazakhstan won Award of Distinction at GFJN 2023

Noida: The Global Festival  of Journalism Noida is a cultural event, designed by International Journalism Centre, that also showcases films, music, and art from around the world. As part of the festival, the International Documentary section features a diverse selection of documentary films from various countries, covering a wide range of topics such as social issues, environmental concerns, and human interest stories. These thought-provoking documentaries provide a unique perspective on global issues and promote cross-cultural understanding among festival attendees,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah founder of Noida Film City and President of GFJN while inaugurating the film from Kazakhstan.

A film titled-January Events Facts and Arguments Kazakhstan was screened. The 11-minute film, which tells the key developments of each day from Jan. 1, 2022, to Jan. 8, 2022, has covered looters’ attacks against police and civilians and actions of law enforcement agencies from surveillance cameras, as well as personal interviews with detainees and victims. The film is Produced by National Film Studios Kazakhstan.

Ardak Kakimzhanov First Secretary Embassy of Kazakhstan and  Dr Lavlin Thadani Film maker & writer were the guest of honour. Later Dr. Marwah presented Award of Distinction to film from Kazakhstan in a grand function at Marwah Studios. “Documentaries can serve as a record of history, capturing significant events and movements that may have gone unnoticed or misrepresented in mainstream media. They can also bring attention to important social and environmental issues, such as climate change, poverty, human rights, and animal welfare. Documentaries can give a voice to marginalized communities, amplify their struggles, and bring awareness to their stories,” expressed Rahul Rawail renowned film maker from Mumbai while lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Moreover, documentaries offer a platform for filmmakers to showcase their artistry and creativity, as well as push the boundaries of traditional storytelling techniques. A poster of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi was released during the session to mark respect to this great journalist of India.

Global Festival of Journalism Concluded with Fashion Show

Noida: GFJN-Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2023, organized by the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), concluded with a spectacular fashion show. The festival was held under the leadership of Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Festival President, President of ICMEI, and Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts.

The festival was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Thabang Linus Kholumo, Charge d’ Affaires, High Commission of Lesotho, Neeraj A Sharma Hon. Consul General of Palau to India, Yiannakis Makrides Deputy Head of the Mission, High Commission of Cyprus, and renowned writer and poetess Urvashi Agrawal ‘Urvi,’ The event also saw the presentation of the Award of Distinction to the Cyprus film “Olgas Garden.”

The fashion show was a highlight of the festival and showcased the latest trends and designs from some of the most prominent student fashion designers of AAFT. The guests were also presented with a Festival Memento as a token of appreciation for their participation.

Even though the former member of parliament, I am committed to supporting the arts and creative industries, including the world of cinema said  Braj Mohan Ram, an Indian politician and member of the Bhartiya Janata Party.  Ram was one time MLA and  three times MP- member of the Lok Sabha  from the Palamu Constituency in Jharkhand.

Later Students of Cinema were presented with their awards brought to college from different competitions. Dr. Marwah presented Life Membership of International Film and Television Club of AAFT to the distinguished guest.
