Indo-Zimbabwe Film and Cultural Forum Unveils Ethereal African Elegance at 9th Global Fashion and Design Week Noida 2025

Indo-Zimbabwe Film and Cultural Forum Unveils Ethereal African Elegance at 9th Global Fashion and Design Week Noida 2025

Noida, India – May 31, 2025 – The Indo-Zimbabwe Film and Cultural Forum, in esteemed partnership with the Embassy of Zimbabwe in India, made a compelling cultural statement at the 9th Global Fashion and Design Week (GFDW) Noida 2025, held at the world-renowned Marwah Studios, Noida Film City.

In a showcase that merged African heritage with contemporary haute couture, the Forum presented a captivating fashion segment inspired by Zimbabwe’s indigenous beauty, artistic legacy, and harmonious spirit.

Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios, Chancellor of AAFT University, and Chair for the Indo-Zimbabwe Film and Cultural Forum, emphasized the role of culture in building lasting international bridges. “India and Zimbabwe are connected through their shared appreciation for art, nature, and tradition,” he said. “Fashion allows us to communicate without words, to honour the past while crafting the future. Through these garments, we celebrate unity in diversity.”

GFDW 2025, the largest academic fashion week in the world, was organized under the visionary direction of the Fashion Committee of the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI), and supported by the AAFT School of Fashion and Design and AAFT School of Interior Designing. This year’s edition welcomed: 200+ celebrated designers, 550 original fashion creations, 125 unique interior installations, 9 grand fashion shows, 90 runway rounds, 6 curated exhibitions, and 9 global culinary experiences

The weeklong celebration was broadcast live on MSTV, Radio Noida, and covered by more than 600 international media platforms, highlighting its global relevance and reach.

The highlight of the Indo-Zimbabwe Forum’s presence was an exquisite fashion collection inspired by the Monsonia burkeana flower, often called the “Herbal Peace Flower” of Zimbabwe, and the country’s intricate traditional basketry. The designs featured soothing hues of green and white, with body-fit silhouettes in chiffon, Lurex satin, and crepe, flowing effortlessly to mirror Zimbabwe’s tranquil landscapes.

Subtle handwoven textures and fine embroidery adorned each garment, merging ancestral craftsmanship with modern refinement. The result was a seamless blend of cultural storytelling, nature’s elegance, and timeless fashion sensibility—a true tribute to the spirit, resilience, and grace of Zimbabwean culture.

Once again, the Indo-Zimbabwe Film and Cultural Forum underscored its commitment to cultural diplomacy through the universal language of fashion, design, and art, reinforcing the timeless connection between India and the African continent.
