Sandeep Marwah Honored With Mahatma Gandhi Award
‘Media persons can represent the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi in a much better way, and Sandeep Marwah has proved through his work, he deserves an appreciation for the work he is doing for downtrodden community” said Dr. Kumar Saptarishi President of Maharashtra Gandhi Samarak Nidhi, while handing over the National Gandhi Award to Sandeep Marwah at Pune.
Maharashtra Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, located far west in the suburb of Kothrud is the oldest landmark in this area built in 1948, spread over 10 acres of land.The Trust boasts of close to 40,000 books and 1700 members making its library second largest in Pune district.
Nidhi was formed right after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi when stalwarts of Indian Freedom Struggle like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and others met in Vardha to carry forward Gandhiji’s 16 Point Programme of building a modern nation.
“I am feeling so honored, elevated and close to Gandhi Ji being here at the oldest organization of Gandhi ji at Pune” said Sandeep Marwah thanking all the members of the organization who is also the Chairperson of Mahatma Gandhi Forum, Delhi.
