100 years of Indian Cinema- Star Galaxy At Pune
To mark the centenary year of Indian movies, a 5-day cultural festival is being organised at Pune's Vasantrao Bagul Garden, Sahakarnagar. This event is organised by Pune Navratra Mahotsav Trust President and PMC corporator Shri Aba Bagul which will be inaugurated on Sunday 29, April at 5:30 pm at the hands of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Prithvirajji Chavan. The inauguration day will witness a galaxy of celebrities from the Indian film industry.
Veteran cinestars like Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Sulochana Didi, Zeenat Aman, Prem Chopra, Asrani, Vishwajeet, Rati Agnihotri, Parikshit Sahni, Sudha Chandran, Tinu Anand, Shammi, Shailendra Singh, Viju Khote, Shobha Khote and Jai Borate will gather together at this opening day to salute the memories of the founder of Indian films Late Dadasaheb Phalke. Renowned international artist Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sandeep Marwah, President of Asian Society of Film and Television, New Delhi will also make his first public appearance in Pune on this occasion.
Smt. Madhuritai Phalke, daughter-in-law of Late Dadasaheb Phalke, Smt. Meena Munge, the heroine of the movies of Late Dadasaheb Phalke of that time will also be felicitated on this occasion.
The next generation felicitation includes Anil Damle - the grandson of Vishnupant Damle of Prabhat Film Company, Arshad Fattelal - the grandson of Saheb Mama Fattelal of Prabhat Film Company, Vijaymala Mistri - daughter of Baburao Painter, Raju Naushad – son of great music director Naushad, Mustaffa Sajaad Husain – son of music director Sajaad Husain, Shaheed Raffi – son of legendary singer Mohd. Raffi, Baby Shakuntala, Dynanada Naik – daughter of Venkatesh Madgulkar, Shridhar Madgulkar – son of GA DI MA, Meena Fatarpekar – granddaughter of Saraswatibai Rane, Vandana Khandekar – daughter of Jyotsana Bhole, Kishore Sarpotdar – grandson of Nanasaheb Sarpotdar, Suhas Bhole – son of Keshavrao Bhole and Mohan Karve - age 87 years who performed as a child artist in the Marathi film 'Bhakta Prahllad' in 1933.
To mark this event a gigantic balloon of 20x20 ft. will be placed on 200ft. height at Vasantrao Bagul Garden. This mega event, its programmes and participation of eminent film personalities will keep Pune once again on the forefront of the film industry in India, said Aba Bagul, organiser of this festival.
