Poster Launched on World Telecommunication Day

Noida: World Telecommunication Day (WTD) has been celebrated annually on 17 May since 1969. In 1973, the event was formally instituted at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Malaga-Torremolinos, Spain. A poster was launched at Marwah Studios to mark respect to this day.

“The purpose of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide,” informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah Patron to IFUNA- Indian Federation of United Nations Associations.

“World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, like its predecessors, focuses on a particular theme for each event. And this year it is ‘Bridging the standardization gap’,” added Dr. Marwah also Ambassador of IHRO affiliated to United Nations.
