New Delhi: “So while various codes may have some differences, most share common elements including the principles of truthfulness, accuracy, objectivity, impartiality, fairness, and public accountability, as these apply to the acquisition of newsworthy information and its subsequent dissemination to the public,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President Marwah Studios initiating the new session on norm and ethics of journalism on the third day of 9th Global Festival of Journalism designed by IJC- International Journalism Centre.
“Some journalistic codes of ethics, notably some European codes, also include a concern with discriminatory references in news based on race, religion, sexual orientation, , and physical or mental disabilities. The Parliamentary Assembly of the council of Europe approved (in 1993) Resolution on the Ethics of Journalism, which recommends that journalists respect the presumption of innocence, in particular in cases that are still sub judice,” added Emile Mwepesi Second Counsellor High Commission of Rwanda.
Komal Nahata senior journalist and film critic emphasised on five major points including Honesty, Independence and objectivity, Fairness, diligence and accountability. He very well explained his points with examples.
Dr. Vaidhie Taman Editor in Chief Afternoon New Paper, Sarjana Sharma Deputy Editor News Sanmarg Delhi Bureau, Ramnath Rajesh Senior Journalist, Ravi Parashar Editor Samay Rajasthan at Sahara Samay and Sachin Batra senior Journalist also expressed themselves and suggested many good points.
National leader Sardar Valla Bhai Patel Forum launched the poster of the great leader and his ideology was well expressed in the webinar followed by the release of Udaan magazine prepared by the students of AAFT School of Mass Communication and Journalism.
