New Delhi, India: A deeply moving Gratitude Meet was organized on 1st May at the Member of Parliament Club, South Avenue, to pay homage to the revered social activist and peace ambassador Nirmala Deshpande, fondly known as “Didi.” The gathering brought together eminent personalities, social leaders, and admirers to honor her extraordinary contribution to peace, social harmony, and the promotion of Gandhian values.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios, paid his heartfelt tribute and expressed deep gratitude while recalling his personal interactions with Nirmala Deshpande Ji. He highlighted her lifelong dedication to humanity and her unwavering commitment to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. Marwah also spoke about the active role of the Mahatma Gandhi Forum at Marwah Studios, which continues to spread Gandhian ideology across the globe through art, media, and cultural initiatives.
Among other distinguished speakers, Anil Ghai from Rotary International addressed the gathering and reflected on the relevance of Nirmala Deshpande Ji’s work in today’s world, emphasizing the importance of compassion, unity, and service.
The event was thoughtfully designed and organized by Rajendra Deshpandey of Akhil Bharat Rachnatmak Samaj (ABRS), a global confederation of Gandhian organizations and social initiatives. In his address, Rajendra Deshpandey emphasised the need to carry forward the legacy of Nirmala Deshpande Ji by strengthening grassroots movements rooted in peace, non-violence, and inclusive development. He urged all present to dedicate themselves to the ideals she championed and to work collectively towards a more compassionate and harmonious society.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment by all attendees to uphold and promote the timeless values of peace, service, and humanity, keeping alive the inspiring legacy of Nirmala Deshpande Ji.
