“The net results of your hard work, your caliber, your long
relations with cinema can only be seen in cinema theatres in any country
irrespective of size of the industry” explained Sandeep Marwah during meeting
with film makers, distributors and cinema owners of Dakar at Senegal.
“India’s strength is that it has 12000 theatres and ten
million people watch cinema every day. We sell 5 billion tickets every year
which is more than USA which is 3 billion per year” added Marwah who is also on
the board of FFI-Film Federation of India.
Cinemas are to be renovated and to be provided with best of
ambience and facilities to attract more audience to theatres suggested Marwah
to the Minister of Culture Abdoul Aziz MBAYE when they both visited the local
theatres for inspection during state visit of Sandeep Marwah at Dakar.
Sandeep Marwah was accompanied by filmmaker Oumar Sall &
Modibo Diawara, Maguette DIOP Secretary General of Cine Seas, Dr. Hadja Mai
NIANG, Maimouna Diop of May Art, Prof. Fallou GUEYE advisor to Prime Minister
Senegal, Hugues DIAZ Director of Cinematography Ministry of Culture, O.P.Meena
from Embassy of India and many other people from film and television
fraternity.
