Noida: International Journalism Centre in association with Newspapers Association of India designed a very powerful 9th annual award for the outstanding journalist under the banner “Kalam Ke Sipahi”. Nearly thirty journalists were selected for this award from all over India who all personally came to Noida Film City to collect it.
“Journalism will kill you, but it will keep you alive while you’re at it. A good newspaper, if I am not wrong, is a nation talking to itself. Journalism can never be silent: That is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. Today we have heroes of journalism whom we are honouring for their sincere contribution towards good journalism,” said Dr Sandeep Marwah President of International Journalism Centre in a grand function at Marwah Studios.
“An ideal journalist should be observant and possess strong analytical skills to assess a situation if there is something more to it. Whether it is about confirming the credibility of sources or assessing an incident, a journalist should know how to weight a situation critically,” said Tirath Singh Rawat former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and MP Lok Sabha in the capacity of Chief Guest congratulating all the awardees from different parts of the country and abroad.
“Every day is a good day. There is something to learn, care and celebrate.” “Any day above ground is a good day. Before you complain about anything, be thankful for your life and the things that are still going well,” suggested Sadguru Riteshwar Ji Maharaj and asked to learn as how to control your emotions.
“Though it may be interesting or even entertaining, the foremost value of news is as a utility to empower the informed. The purpose of journalism is thus to provide citizens with the information they need to make the best possible decisions about their lives, their communities, their societies, and their governments,” added Ashish Saraf Honorary Consul of The Commonwealth of Bahamas.
Vipin Gaur Secretary General Newspapers Association of India, Dr. Gururaj Nagathan President NAI, Dr Deepak Narwal from London United Kingdom, Brandy Veil from Los Angles United States of America, Dr Serge Dvorianov from Moscow Russia were also present on the stage.
