NOIDA FILM CITY: In a significant gesture celebrating international friendship and the global reach of Indian cinema, H.E. Armando Pedro Muiuane Junior, High Commissioner of Mozambique, was honoured with the prestigious title of “Hindi Cinema Samman Samarthak” (Patron of Hindi Cinema) by the Hindi Cinema Samman Samiti during the 19th Global Film Festival Noida 2026 at Marwah Studios, Film City, Noida.

The honour recognises the importance of strengthening international appreciation for Hindi cinema and encouraging cultural understanding between India and Mozambique through the powerful medium of films, music, art, and creative expression.

The Hindi Cinema Samman Samiti, under the chairmanship of renowned media personality and film educationist Dr. Sandeep Marwah, selected the Ambassador for this special distinction in recognition of the significance of diplomatic engagement in promoting Indian cinema and strengthening cultural relations between nations.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chairman of the Hindi Cinema Samman Samiti, said, “Hindi cinema is one of India’s most powerful cultural ambassadors. It carries our language, traditions, emotions, music, values, and stories to millions of people across the world. Honouring H.E. Armando Pedro Muiuane Junior as Hindi Cinema Samman Samarthak is our way of acknowledging the importance of international friendship and diplomatic support in taking Indian cinema to new audiences.”

Dr. Marwah further stated that cinema has the unique ability to transcend geographical boundaries, linguistic differences, and cultural barriers. He emphasised that the active involvement of diplomatic representatives in cultural initiatives can create new opportunities for film collaborations, cultural exchanges, international screenings, and people-to-people relationships.

He added that Mozambique and India share opportunities for deeper engagement through cinema, creative industries, education, music, and cultural programmes. Such initiatives, he said, can bring artists and institutions closer together while creating a stronger foundation for mutual understanding and cooperation.

H.E. Armando Pedro Muiuane Junior, while acknowledging the honour, appreciated the initiative of the Hindi Cinema Samman Samiti and the efforts of Dr. Sandeep Marwah in promoting international cultural relations through cinema. He recognised the importance of films as a medium for sharing national identities, traditions, and human experiences, and highlighted the value of cultural engagement in bringing people and countries closer together.

The presentation of the title at the Global Film Festival Noida added special significance to the occasion, as the festival provides an international platform for filmmakers, diplomats, artists, media professionals, and students to exchange ideas and develop meaningful cultural partnerships.
