“Gandhi was probably the
greatest journalist of all time, Gandhi looked upon journalism as a means
to serve the people” said Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios introducing
Mahatma Gandhi Forum of Asian Education Group at 2nd Global Festival
of Journalism Noida 2014.
The weeklies Mahatma Gandhi
edited were probably the best. He published no advertisement; at the same time
he did not want his newspapers to run at a loss. He had gained considerable
experience in South Africa, where he had taken over in1904 the editorship of
the 'Indian Opinion' and published it in English, Tamil and Gujarati, sometimes
running the press himself. Gandhi’s newspapers 'Young
India' and 'Harijan' became powerful vehicles of his views on all subjects.
A poster depicting Mahatma
Gandhi as journalist was released On the occasion of 2nd Global
Festival of Journalism Noida 2014 by the guests.
