Film from Azerbaijan Begged Award of Distinction at 11th GFJN-2023

Noida: The documentary film “Legend of Kharibulbul” by professional Swedish photographer and filmmaker Mikael Silkeberg begged the Award of Distinction at 11^th Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2023. The award was presented by Festival President Dr. Sandeep Marwah to Ambassador of Azerbaijan H.E.  Dr. Ashraf Shikhaliyev in a grand function after the screening of the film.

“Art and culture play a vital role in strengthening the ties between India and Azerbaijan. Both countries have a rich cultural heritage that can be shared and celebrated. Collaborations in fields such as music, dance, and cinema can deepen mutual understanding and promote people-to-people connections. Let us work towards building a strong cultural bridge between our nations,” spoke Dr. Sandeep Marwah at the event.

“India and Azerbaijan enjoy warm and friendly relations based on historical and cultural ties. Bilateral cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, and investment has strengthened our partnership. I am confident that our countries will continue to work closely to promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity through art and culture,” added Dr. Ashraf Shikhaliyev.

The documentary, shot on the initiative of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Sweden, with the support of the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO and Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture, features remarks by a number of well-known cultural and artistic figures about history of Karabakh and its crown – the city of Shusha, its music and literature, as well as historical figures. The shootings of the film also took place in Shusha.

The two regions share a deep connection, having fought against colonialism and imperialism together, and have since worked towards mutual cooperation and development,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah founder of Noida Film City and Chancellor of AAFT University on the second day of 11^th Global Festival of Journalism at Marwah Studios.

To celebrate this relationship, Marwah Studios, a renowned media and entertainment hub in India, organized an event on Africa Day. The event aimed to showcase the rich cultural diversity of Africa through music, dance, and art. It provided a platform for Africans living in India to share their stories and experiences, highlighting the cultural similarities and differences between the two regions.

The event also emphasized the need for stronger economic ties between India and Africa. India has been investing heavily in Africa, with trade and investment growing rapidly over the years. “The event served as a reminder of the potential for further economic cooperation and development,” said K..L. .Ganju Consul General of Comoros in India.

Noida: Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics together has been given a new segment in Media & Entertainment Industry as AVGC Sector. Government of India has also created a AVGC promotion Task force. It is necessary to bring this information to the table,” said Dr, Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios initiating the seminar on AVGC on the first ay of 11^th Global Festival of Journalism Noida 2023 and inviting H E Choe Hui Chol Ambassador of DPR Korea to India to inaugurate the session.

“The Global AVGC industry amounts to 800 billion US Dollars, and the Indian AVGC sector is brimming with the potential to bag upto 5 percent of the global share that is 40 billion US Dollars, given that it has an annual growth rate of over 25 to 30 percent,” said Abed Elrazeg Jazer Media advisor Embassy of Palestine.

“Not only does the sector contributes significantly to the economy but it also creates an abundance of employment opportunities for several skilled sectors, with over 160,000 jobs that it could provide yearly, informed P.K.Bajaj founder Mayapuri Magazine sharing his vast experience in Animation.

Karnataka was the first Indian state to announce an AVGC policy in 2012. The policy was initiated to promote the state as a lucrative outsourcing destination and attract venture capital funding in the AVGC sector informed Supriya Suri who has been organizing Animation Festival every year.

The Government of Karnataka has opened a Centre of Excellence that will provide State of the art facilities that will give the AVGC industry in Bengaluru and Karnataka a holistic technological boost. It will house a highly equipped AVGC post production lab providing the industry with resources to generate high quality content. The CoE will also have a finishing school that will train & provide highly skilled technicians to the companies in Karnataka, thus facilitating employment opportunities condensed Prof. Dr Suresh Chandra Nayak renowned academician.

Still Photography Exhibition Inaugurated at 11th Global Festival of Journalism

Noida:  The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera. Photography is by nature a documentary art. On the occasion of 11th Global festival of Journalism Noida 2023, a photography exhibition titled “Phototatv” was presented by the students of School of Still Photography of Asian Academy of Film and Television & International Journalism Centre.

“I have always believed that still photography is the base of many creative arts. It enhances the aesthetic sense and guides you to think systematically. We made it a point to have a subject Still Photography in every creative course including Cinema, Journalism, Fashion, Animation, Tourism etc. Now I can proudly say that we have a separate school  under  AAFT School of Still Photography which has picked up very well,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President Marwah Studios while lighting the ceremonial lamp in the new wing of Marwah Studios.

The dignitaries present there appreciated the work which was presented under  theme Guerrilla warfare in Kashmir, Massive Fire in Chandni Chowk, Loneliness, Crowd etc. A coffee table book consisting of these pictures were suggested by the guests. Documentary from Venezuela Screened at 11th Global Festival of Journalism

Noida: A documentary film is a non-fictional motion-picture intended to “document reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education or maintaining a historical record. Poetic Documentaries. Expository Documentaries, Observational Documentaries, Participatory Documentaries, Reflexive Documentaries, and  Performative Documentaries are the different types we have been promoting in Global Festival of Journalism in these last eleven years,” said Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios at the opening of Venezuela Film on the first day of GFJN at Noida Film City.

Life In A Dance- a full length documentary from Venezuela was the first film opened by Alfredo Caldera Charge D’ Affaires of Embassy of Venezuela in India. It is about the life and  artistic career of the flamenco dancer from La Linea de la Concepcion, David Morales Ramirez. This film is in itself an example how a documentary transforms the life, not only  of its protagonist, but also of its creators directed by Blanca Rey.

Later Dr. Sandeep Marwah presented an Award of Distinction to Alfredo Carla for the documentary being as one of the best nine documentaries of the festival. A memento of the festival was also handed over to the guest. The students of AAFT School of Journalism and Mass Communication and many film lovers from all over India enjoyed the screening of the film.

The event was supported by AUA-Asian Unity Alliance, IFTRC-International Film and Television Research Centre, AAFT University, IPBF-International Public Broadcasting Forum, and WPDRF- World Peace Development and Research Foundation. The film has been included as a part of  11^th International Documentary Film Festival promoted by International Journalism Centre.
