We care Festival of films on Disability part of Samarth



Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi inaugurated ‘SAMARTH 2014 - Celebrating Diversity’, a national festival for showcasing the abilities of Persons with Disabilities  being organized by the Department of Disability Affairs under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India  at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi on Wednesday.

“This SAMARTH festival reflects the diversified culture of our country and also our sense of inclusiveness. Our system does provide every one with equal rights. At the same time, we will have to put in more efforts to ensure the rights of the persons with disability”, said the Congress President in her inaugural address.

The second day OF SAMARTH has seen the collection of large number of short films on disability designed by ‘We Care Film Festival’ under the president ship of Sandeep Marwah and Satish Kapoor as festival director.

“Let us pray God for good thinking and good feelings so that we can do good karmas and try to convert this earth into heaven” said Sandeep Marwah in his opening remarks.” We are creating an awareness through cinema which is the best way to communicate to masses” added Satish Kapoor .

Others who spoke on the occasion were Stuti Kakar Secretary Department of Disability Ministry of Social Justice, Avinash Awasti Joint Secretary, Poonam Natrajan Chairperson National Trust, Kiran Mehra Director United Nation Information Centre, music director Anand Raj Anand and film director Govind Nihalani who is also the patron to the organization.
