New Delhi, May 29, 2023 – Sandeep Marwah, a distinguished media personality and the Cultural representative of over 20 African countries in India, was invited as a special guest at the grand Africa Day celebrations held at the Taj Palace in New Delhi on May 25th. The event brought together Ambassadors and High Commissioners from all African nations, along with esteemed guest Ambassadors from various countries, to commemorate the rich history, diverse cultures, and remarkable progress of the African continent.
The chief guest for the occasion was Meenakshi Lekhi, the State Minister for External Affairs and Culture of the Government of India. In her address to the international audience, Minister Lekhi highlighted the significance of India-Africa relations and the shared cultural ties between the two regions.
Sandeep Marwah, while interacting with the press, expressed his role as the Cultural representative for more than 15 African countries, including Nigeria, Sudan, Senegal, Lesotho, Gambia, Gabon, Comoros, Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. He emphasized the fruitful collaborations in promoting the arts and culture of these nations through various cultural forums of the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry.
Furthermore, Marwah announced an initiative to foster closer ties by offering 54 scholarships for short-term courses at the Asian Academy of Film and Television, representing each of the 54 African countries. This effort aims to facilitate cultural exchange and mutual learning between India and Africa.
Marwah also highlighted that all African countries actively participate in India’s Global Film Festivals, Global Fashion Week, Global Literary Festival, and Global Festival of Journalism, further strengthening the cultural bonds between the nations.
