The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) in association with AAFT celebrated World Athletics Day, highlighting the importance of sports and physical activity in promoting peace, unity, and development. The event has adopted various themes over the years, such as Sports for Peace and Development, Stay Active, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected, Training for Life, and Excellence in Women’s Leadership. This year, ICMEI celebrated Love, Peace, and Unity Through Sports, emphasizing the power of sports to bring people together and create positive change in society.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, the founder of ICMEI, has a world record in sports for his involvement with the 19th Commonwealth Games in Delhi. He covered the Queen’s Baton Relay from Wagah Border to Nehru Stadium, spanning 28 states, 5 union territories, 300 events, 900 cities, 20,000 KM, and took 10,000 pictures, filmed 1000 hours, produced 102 radio programs and 102 short films for World broadcast. He was also one of the 900 athletes who ran with the Baton, demonstrating his passion for sports and his commitment to promoting them on a global scale.
Dr. Marwah has given two major sports events to the nation, the Asian Star Premier Sports, and Atheleema, which are organized annually to bring youth closer to sports. These events are aimed at promoting physical activity and creating opportunities for young people to participate in various sports, including athletics. Through these events, Dr. Marwah hopes to inspire the next generation of athletes and promote a culture of sports and physical activity in India.
