New Delhi, 23rd August 2025: Rotarian Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios and Chancellor of AAFT University, inaugurated the Handicraft Utsav as part of Abahoni 2025 – Shilpi Sammelan & Heritage Utsav by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Aparajita Mahila Samiti, Chittaranjan Park, New Delhi.
The festival, presented by Women’s Moksha, Subhash Roy & Associates, and DNA, under the leadership of Purnima Bhattacharyya, is being held from 16th to 30th August 2025. It celebrates two towering figures of Indian heritage—the 300th Birth Anniversary of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar and the 165th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sandeep Marwah highlighted the significance of festivals like Abahoni 2025 in preserving India’s rich culture and traditions. He emphasized the role of art, craft, and heritage in fostering national pride and in empowering artisans, weavers, and women across the country.
The vibrant festival is a true showcase of India’s cultural wealth, featuring handloom, handicrafts, textiles, cuisine, and heritage displays. With a strong focus on inclusive participation from rural communities, women, tribal groups, and youth, Abahoni 2025 highlights timeless handcrafted, eco-friendly, and biodegradable products that carry the legacy of sustainability and self-reliance. Coir-based and village-industry products reflecting indigenous knowledge and skills are also a major attraction.
Agamani Bhattacharyya, speaking on behalf of the organizers, shared: “The purpose of this festival is to organize celebrations across the nation with special emphasis on tribal and rural segments, thereby creating an ambience for holistic development. Through such initiatives, we aim to promote the cause of art, artists, artisans, weavers, craftsmen, and women empowerment.”
The festival has been envisioned as a platform to strengthen cultural pride while simultaneously empowering local communities, keeping alive the ethos of Bharat’s glorious heritage.
