Noida, India: In a landmark moment for Indo–Latvian cultural relations, H.E. Juris Bone, Ambassador of Latvia to India, was formally presented with the Patronship of the newly formed Indo–Latvia Film and Cultural Forum during the 18th Global Film Festival Noida (GFFN) 2025 at the iconic Marwah Film City, Noida. The ceremony marked a historic first in cultural collaboration between India and Latvia through cinema and the arts.
Accepting the Patronship, H.E. Juris Bone expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that cinema and culture serve as powerful tools to build bridges between nations. He appreciated India’s vibrant film ecosystem and educational framework and emphasized that the Forum would open new avenues for cooperation in filmmaking, cultural exchange, academic collaboration, and people-to-people engagement between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Founder of Noida Film City, President of GFFN, and Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts, described the development as a milestone achievement. He stated that this was the first-of-its-kind arrangement between India and Latvia, and expressed happiness that the Ambassador of Latvia had graciously accepted the Patronship of the Indo–Latvia Film and Cultural Forum. Dr. Marwah underlined that the Forum would work actively to promote joint film projects, student and faculty exchanges, cultural festivals, and long-term institutional partnerships.
The Patronship ceremony was witnessed by a distinguished gathering of international and national filmmakers, diplomats, film students, academicians, and media professionals, reinforcing the Global Film Festival Noida’s stature as a powerful platform where cinema, education, and international diplomacy come together.
The occasion further strengthened the role of GFFN 2025 as a catalyst for global cultural cooperation, reaffirming India’s commitment to fostering meaningful international relationships through creative arts and media.
