New Delhi: The Junior Olympics – Season 9 (2026) was ceremoniously inaugurated by Sandeep Marwah at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, marking a grand celebration of youth, discipline, and sporting excellence. Held from 2nd to 7th February 2026, the national sporting event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 6,000 young athletes from across Delhi NCR, transforming the stadium into a vibrant arena of energy and aspiration.
Addressing the young sportspersons, Dr. Sandeep Marwah emphasized the transformative power of sports, stating that sports play a vital role in shaping character, instilling discipline, building leadership, and nurturing a spirit of teamwork and national pride among the youth. He encouraged the participants to pursue sports not only as competition, but as a lifelong commitment to health, perseverance, and excellence.
On this prestigious occasion, Dr. Marwah was also felicitated for his World Record in Sports, an honour that added further significance to the inaugural ceremony. Expressing his gratitude, he said he was deeply humbled to receive this recognition at a platform dedicated to young athletes and the future of Indian sports.
Asian Marathon Champion Sunita Godara, Noted sports enthusiast Sanjeev Kapoor was also present, lending his support and encouragement to the budding champions and appreciating the scale and spirit of the Junior Olympics. The mega national event was meticulously curated and executed by Satender Singh Tanwar of Junior Sports Foundation, whose leadership and organizational excellence ensured the smooth conduct of competitions across multiple disciplines.
