| Sri Lanka’s Coastal Serenity Inspires a Mesmerizing Showcase by Shrishti Kumari at 10th Global Fashion & Design Week Noida 2026 |
Noida, India: The tranquil beauty and cultural symbolism of Sri Lanka were elegantly brought to life by designer Ms. Shrishti Kumari at Day 1, 1st Show, Sequence 9 of the prestigious 10th Global Fashion and Design Week Noida 2026, held at Marwah Studios, Film City, Noida. The internationally acclaimed event was organized in association with the AAFT School of Fashion and Design and the AAFT School of Interior Design, celebrating global creativity and cultural exchange.
Inspired by the serene shores of Sri Lanka, the collection drew deeply from the symbolic beauty of cowrie shells—long regarded as emblems of femininity, prosperity, and protection. Translating these delicate natural forms into fashion, the designer presented soft, flowing silhouettes enriched with intricate handcrafted details.
A soothing palette of sea green, aqua blue, pristine white, and subtle touches of gold echoed the gentle rhythm of Sri Lanka’s coastal waters, creating an atmosphere of calm elegance on the runway. Each ensemble reflected harmony between nature and design, offering a refined narrative of grace, fluidity, and cultural depth.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President, AAFT, highlighted the importance of fashion as a medium of cultural storytelling and global unity, noting that such platforms continue to strengthen international creative collaboration.
The showcase was also part of the vibrant celebration of Asian Unity Day on 2nd April, organized by the Asian Unity Alliance. The International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) welcomed a distinguished gathering of guests from India and across the world, including ambassadors, high commissioners, and diplomats, adding to the global significance of the occasion.
Deeply influenced by the culture and coastal heritage of Sri Lanka, the collection was widely appreciated for its elegance, symbolism, and artistic finesse. The event was proudly supported by the Indo Sri Lanka Film and Cultural Forum of ICMEI, further strengthening cultural ties and creative collaboration between India and Sri Lanka. This captivating presentation reaffirmed fashion’s power to transcend borders—transforming nature, culture, and tradition into a universal language of beauty and expression.
